As an aside, Thor: Ragnarok made $112,226,154 in China. Thor: Love and Thunder was not released in China. So more people in the west went to see Love and Thunder? That strongly implies a lot of the hate really is just noise online. Huh, they might need to course correct less than I thought. That said, I would still like it if Thor 5 was a bit more serious. Indeed. If a confrontation between Hercules and Thor is the main thrust of Thor 5, Marvel Studios will do well to tone down the slapstick. That said, there's something to be said for Waititi's pure imagination approach. A hyper-serious film would likely trade all that in for grim pronouncements, more violence, and a bigger body count.

That said, there's something to be said for Waititi's pure imagination approach. A hyper-serious film would likely trade all that in for grim pronouncements, more violence, and a bigger body count. Indeed. The fact Hercules is going to undergo a Heel-Turn and become a Face is inevitable, but the fact it'll put him at odds with the other Greek gods is going to be dead serious. And if Zeus's promise to make people fear the Greek pantheon is taken far enough, this could be an almost Infinty War level ride. I don't want Waititi to go away, either. Just reigned in a bit. Watching his Thor movies is the closest I'll ever get to seeing an 80s Sci-Fi film or 80s Fantasy film on the big screen. Seriously, his style for Ragnarök and Love and Thunder is like the unholy bastard love child of The Adeventures of Buckaroo Banzai in the 8th Dimension and Flash Gordon with shades of The Dark Crystal and Forbidden Zone. And I mean that in the best, most flattering way possible.

With it's current re-release "Spider-Man No Way Home" has passed $2 billion at the box office.

With it's current re-release "Spider-Man No Way Home" has passed $2 billion at the box office. Thats insane. Post Covid mind you. I remember those “Will there be a super big film for years”, convos and apparently the answer was yes.

For reasons unknown boxofficemojo has lowered the movies current total to a mere $1,913,973,665. There must have been an overestimate of the weekend numbers.

Thor: Love and Thunder global total is now $760,226,269.
It has significantly outperformed Ragnarok once you factor in that Love and Thunder did not release in China or Russia (also without even considering pandemic impact and Disney+ release). I guarantee Marvel and Disney are very happy with this movie.

So if Black Panther 2 doesn't make a billion like the first film would that mean that the boycott over not recasting T'challa worked?

So if Black Panther 2 doesn't make a billion like the first film would that mean that the boycott over not recasting T'challa worked? If Black Panther 2 doesn't make a billion dollars, the boycott will be the least of their problems. The entire MCU will likely collapse shortly after the failure of BP:WF.

I guess people aren't all that interested in Ant-Man.
