There's a season 3? Granted, I quit paying any kind of attention to Geass after it originally ended, so this is surprising. Let me guess, they some-freaking-how resurrect Ledouche. No I was just talking about season 2 being better for code geass. No season 3 but there is a sequel movie after season 2 if that makes sense Crap, I saw that '2' and my eyes saw '3' for some reason. I didn't even know about the movie. So did they resurrect Ledouche?

Has anyone seen RWBY? An anime influenced Western animation. How is it? Or anyone hear anything? maximura @weirdraptor It's technically a pretty decent anime, but I have a specific animation style that works for my anime and this one falls outside of it. I don't know exactly how to define it, but I look at an anime and if it doesn't have the undefinable look, I don't watch it. That said, I had a buddy who made me watch the first season, and again, the story seems intriguing and it seems to develop well, so I can't say not to watch it. It just isn't my general preference.

Has anyone seen RWBY? An anime influenced Western animation. How is it? Or anyone hear anything? maximura @weirdraptor Don't bother. It's a poorly written amateurish mess of a series. It started with a lot of potential, but the two writers of the series were more interested in giving the supporting characters they also voiced more screen time than the four actual main characters. No joke, a side character named Jaune Arc, voiced by series writer Miles Luna, got an entire quarter of the first season dedicated to him. You have to watch a side series called "World of Remnant" just to get to know the setting and story, because the morons who made the series actually forgot to tell the story in the main series. I'm not even making that up. Then the original series creator, Monty Oun, passed away, and they basically threw out everything he'd every done to lay down the foundations for future seasons, and the series took a nosedive in quality, especially where fight scenes are concerned, because Oun was also the series choreographer. Literally the only characters to ever get proper character development in this "girl power" series are male characters, who constantly steal all the spotlight and cool moments away from the four female leads. At this point, Team RWBY basically is only still in the series as a formality because the series is called Rwby. Believe, you're better off watching Naruto and Avatar: The Last Airbender, the two series it was mostly inspired by.

I was working off word of mouth on quality, so I will withdraw my mild endorsement.

I was a fan of the early years, mostly because it was an independently made series originating from the internet that made it big. I had to support it. But as time went on, it became clearer and clearer that it was never going to live up to its potential. There are literally, what are we up to now, terabytes of videos explaining how this series went wrong. There's also a lot of behind-the-scenes drama like you wouldn't believe, but I won't go into that. Since then, I've basically watched it like a train wreck unfolding. I just can't look away.

Tokyo Ghoul. I never read the manga on which this is based (I believe there was an anime series too), but was introduced to it by someone at a place I was doing volunteer work. In our free time she showed me the manga and explained the characters/story. Only some of that stuck in my brain (since my memory's so shoddy these days), but from what she'd told me, I was intrigued. From what little I saw of it, the character of Touka was the main one who caught my interest. She seemed pretty cool and like she could kick arse. The other thing that caught my attention was the mask that the lead character, Kaneki, wore - it was certainly memorable. When I saw they made a live-action movie version, I decided to check it out. I've now watched it twice. That's^ the limit of anime/manga knowledge.

That was at that point where I was 'try before you buy' so to speak re pilots of different animes

Has anyone seen RWBY? An anime influenced Western animation. How is it? Or anyone hear anything? maximura @weirdraptor Oh, yeah, a better example of the RWBY's bad writing. Okay, so, there are a pair of twins in the series who can magically turn into birds. There is no drawback to this ability. They can just turn into normal-looking crows and back into human form at will. They got this ability to from the series mentor-figure, Ozpin. So it's an extra ability on top of the natural magical abilities all humanoids are granted in this setting. So they started with cool powers and got another cool power added to it. And it's treated as a curse and used as an example of how the mentor character is (somehow) morally gray or dubious. Another character flat out demands "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?!" when she finds this out. Yeah... not even the most devout fans were EVER able to figure the rationale of this out. It'd take another season after this weird little bit of writing before the writers could actually come up with something legit for the other characters to hold against him after trying and failing numerous times across about five and a half seasons to make the mentor look less than trustworthy, because all of his supposed "shady decisions" were either just plain common sense or lacked any kind of dangerous drawback to warrant the character's in-universe reputation.

Well I may as well try to revive this thread. Currently finished Hunter x Hunter which was an overall excellent Shonen. My favorite arcs being Chimera Ant and York New City. Also started FMAB and enjoying it despite the comic relief being somewhat jarring. Decided to watch Naruto again. The older arcs are definitely better than most of Shippuden with the exception of the Pain arc. I still consider War arc to be the downfall of the series. Almost caught up with the Berserk manga and recently decided to start reading the One Piece manga. So far really enjoying One piece. Also Attack on Titan Season 4 episode 1 was pretty good. This will definitely be the best season based on what I've heard from manga readers. I still need to watch the rest of Hunter x Hunter. I stopped pretty much immediately after they finished the island/video game arc. Shout out to Killua-great character Atm Im only watching Black Clover. Will probs get back into My Hero Academia soon enough. Attack on Titan, I need to return to too You're going to love Killua even more in the Chimera Ant arc. It's the arc right after the Video game arc(Greed Island).

Did they extend the dubbed version of that yet? Call me old fashioned, but I prefer translated watchable anime to reading. I know this is a rift in the anime community, particularly given the delay intrinsic in dub delay.

Currently watching Code Geass and love it but I won't deny there are some poor writing choices in Season 2 and the end of Season 1. However I still prefer it to Death Note so far(Really didn't like it after L died).
Finished FMAB and honestly it's become one of my favorites. Also watched the 2003 series. However FMAB really didn't get good until episode 16 given that episodes 1-15 as are a rushed version of episodes 1-25 from 2003. It's definitely better to watch the first 25 episodes of 2003 then switch to Brotherhood since everything after the first half of 2003 wasn't manga canon. Also I prefer the ending to Brotherhood.
Also started a new Shounen that's been gaining popularity - Jujitsu Kaisan. So far so good.

I mean the last season came out in like 2013.

Japan is about to unleash an anime that will cause a Twitter controversy unlike anything the world has ever seen before:
I've only heard about this series, but the main character, a psychotic villain protagonist, takes his rapey revenge on all those who wronged in the original timeline before he used a time travel spell to go back and start over. I have no intention of watching this series, but I do plan on roasting marshmallows over the flame wars it will cause.

Admittedly not anime, but I rewatched the 90s X-Men and it holds up. I'll check out Spider-Man soon, but on a more depressing note, the Silver Surfer series is garbage. Not because of bad writing, but the first season was spent setting up a major fight between Surfer and Thanos with the destruction of Eternity, Infinity, and existence on the line, and ends as that struggle is about to commence. It's like the season was 2/3rds of what was intended. My memory as a kid, was that I must have missed the final episodes, but no, they just sucked that hard. This probably hits harder because SS is my favorite, but my nearest adult experience is Berserk when it just cold stopped after hell was unleashed.
