She is right. It should be clear that some things are in the way, plural, if this doesn’t boost up green wise. Nice play on the theme song there btw. And I think the key stone of those things is not realizing that even Batman can’t withstand being the only focal point and Superman had already lost his luster even before Brandon Routhe slapped on the tights. How it’s taken so long for this to sink into public consciousness I have no idea, but WB has been horribly deceived by the fans who have kept selling the idea that Superman is supposed to be popular. So instead of using the opportunity to build their brand, they’re now left trying to do so with a tired OG, worn out leads, and no goodwill She’s right. If the sequel doesn’t find elite level status, the value of DC to WB will hit a new low. The brutal truth for a brutal Batman - that kind of irony pays dividends. A part of the problem may be that we've painted the Dark Knight into this hyper-serious and ultra-grounded corner. Creatively, auteurs can't risk doing anything other than the most realistic takes on the character. Nolan has long since parted from the franchise and the genre, but his shadow still looms large. I prefer a more gothic and borderline horror-driven take on the character. When Batman approaches the supernatural - when he becomes an elemental force - that is when I am most interested and engaged with the character. The screeching of winged vermin, the ghosting people mid-sentence… pure magic. Watching him stroll into active crime scenes staring down detectives and technicians, is the uppermost limit of what I can take from the grounded approach. Of course, you can't deny that Pattinson put work into creating a very distinct version of the character. His walk, voice, and overall mannerism were outstanding. And, he's a Nirvana fan - what more do you need? It will be interesting to see how Affleck and Keaton fair in the Flash. I wonder if the Flash could get the 1 B nostalgia lift that No Way Home got. The character needs a creative shakeup, for sure. This is why I'm not paying to watch any further Batman movies until I get news of Solomon Grundy and confirmation that he is a supernatural swamp zombie.

I'd love to see that too, but Grundy isn't an intellectual challenge for Batman, so he'd likely need a boss. I'm holding out for Clayface.

Batsy has a few sorcerer enemies capable of resurrectng a dead man into an unholy swamp zombie state.

A fan "enhancement" of the mostly blurred images… I want to give this guy a basket with fruit on top and cold sore medication at the bottom.

I love that the sequel will have a full rogues gallery. That’s not something we have ever seen before in any superhero movie. No one and done villains here. We’re set up for a phenomenal trilogy.

Would be cool if he was only used like this though. Kind of like Clarice asking Hannibal Lector for advice.

He looks like the Tommy Lee Jones Two-Face if it was his entire face that got burned. My brother saw the movie a few days ago and thought he was Two Face. I may have thought the same if it wasn’t for the clown line. In the undeleted movie scene you only see one side of his face.

That Joker scene was pretty awesome. I agree with an online comment that it wouldve overshadowed the Riddler if it had been included

Saw it a second time! Still phenomenal. Though, I do ultimately put both Batman for Begginers and The Dark Knife ahead of it. The Batman has equally good acting and what is easily the best cinematography ever in a comic book movie. But the Nolanite movies have better screenplays and characterization. All three are in my top ten though.

I didn't mind 'realistic Batman'...when it was The Dark Knight Trilogy. But we've had that, seen what 'realistic Batman' looks like, and now it's time to try something different instead of just more-of-the-same.

Is it time to shift back towards the more surreal and adventurous tones? Did the horrific result of Batman & Robin condemn the series to being grim and gritty and real forever? I for one would like to see a modern day Batman Returns

Hell, they made damn sure the Dick Grayson Robin was dead in Batman v Superman just to be absolutely sure he couldn't appear.
