“It’s terrible. ASS ON WHEELS” won in a landslide? Wow. I’m honestly surprised by that. I guess the anonymity is good for getting everyone’s true opinion. Personally I didn’t think it was that bad. I was disappointed in it but I still liked it.

Not the worst film of phase 4 but definitely the most disappointing one so far.

There’s a lot to take out of Thor 4 More Thor
- SIF IS BACK!!!!! - Eternity has appeared!!! - The Living Tribunal gets yet another tease (he’s coming) - Gorr was awesome - SIF IS BACK!!!!! - Zeus is going to be an Odin level threat - Jane got cancer! That was epic as was her choice to fight on - Loved bestowing power on the kids - SIF IS BACK!!!!! - New Asgard continuing to grow is leading somewhere - Val Halla was a lovely close on those characters - Thor being shown to far outclass the Guardians was perfect - SIF IS BACK!!!!!

I enjoyed most of that. I’m curious to see how my opinion changes on a rewatch. Overall I found it to be a fun ride, but just way too light and breezy. To quote LokisMom , it was Marvel Candy. Sweet and tasty but kinda superficial.

AQUA RAPTOR!I noticed you never posted any comments on this movie. Curious what your thoughts were. Also, it’s hard to tag you because I keep forgetting your name here contains neither Weird nor Raptor 😀

I don’t even worry about it as long as they do it right. I’m in it for what they bring

I liked it. It wasn't as good as Ragnarok, but I think people are overblowing the negativity.

I was a little taken aback because I myself enjoyed it, but Marvel should take the negativity into account going forward. This one did end up being divisive.

I don’t know why Taikia felt the need to go so far away from it.

Yes, but we live in a society where opinions usually land on extremes these days, "IT'S THE GREATEST THING EVER!" and "THIS IS THE WORST THING EVER!" with few expressing viewpoints that fall somewhere between when it comes to interacting with media. They will. I don't doubt Thor's battle with Hercules will be more serious because of this.

I was the only one I know that liked it (outside the internet I mean) And I know a few MCU fans. Thor LaT is the only one my brother hated, for example. He even loved Thor 2. And keep in mind that I (mostly) liked it. I really think this one is actually divisive.

Now, that said, Marvel has basically given themselves a very good opportunity to level it out again. 1) With the Greek gods getting involved, they have a chance to root the Thor films in mythology again. 2) If the Greek pantheon is anything like their mythological counterparts, Thor 5 could get very grim, especially with Zeus's threat to make humans fear the gods again. 3) Hercules is a Marvel superhero, so obviously there will be a character arc where he goes from wanting to put the hurt on Thor for humiliating the gods to siding with him over his own father and other kin. This has the potential to be a deep, rich well of characterization. So in all, I think this is a grave they can easily step out of.

As much as I would like to see more directors make a full three movies about [x] character/team in the MCU, I believe Waititi should step away from Thor. Not the MCU as a whole, necessarily, but I think it's time for another change in Thor directors. And believe me, it is with a heavy heart I say it. So far, I think only Jon Watts and James Gunn will have had the honor of making a whole trilogy in the MCU.

NEWS UPDATE: PEYTON REED FIRED FOR MOLESTING BABY GROOT AND THE SERVERS HOLDING ALL HIS FOOTAGE HAVE GONE UP IN FLAMES IN TRAGIC FIRE WHICH HAS CLAIMED THE LIVES OF DISNEY'S RE-ANIMATED HEAD AND CHRISTIAN SLATER'S CAREER! But seriously, of all the directors, its only James Gunn, Jon Watts, and Peyton Reed who will have directed full trilogies in the MCU to date?

If Watiti does return, i hope he doesn't help write the script. I think as a director he's not bad for Thor but his writing isn't great for Thor.

Ehhh they’ll figure it out. They’ve shifted tones before. I’m not stressing it Thor The Dark World vs Love and Thunder? What’d ya got? As you well know. I love all of these ;-) And you know I love TDW way better than most seem to do even if I said I thought it was better, it wouldn’t mean what you’d interpret that statement to mean :-)

The poll is now locked, so can't vote. But my choice wasn't listed anyway. It is right above "It was terrible. Just horrible. Ass on wheels. One of Marvel’s worst." It ain't the worse, the Affleck version of Daredevil gets that one, but doing a parody inside the MCU is not a good sign. Mel Brooks can lampoon Star Wars and Tim Allen Star Trek, but George Lucas and Gene Roddenberry should not. It would be like hold one's own child out for public ridicule.
So, whoever is ultimately responsible for this movie missed it by that much. All the right heroes are there, but they are poorly assembled and even disrespected. I'm still in shock Waititi directed this. I have read and listen to some of his pre-release comments and starting to suspect he was forced to tone down the movie and this dull theatrical release is his revenge. With all the contracts and NDAs they are all must sign, he certainly can't voice his opinion about it if he is pissed off.
If he really had wanted to go to Planet X with this space Viking romp, he should have made it an operetta. Wagner is the public domain, so let it rip.

It won’t let me unlock. I agree with your assessment though. Self parodying one’s own work is most odd. Self depreciating humor has been part of Marvel’s MO since Phase Two, but never to this extent. As far as NDAs goes I suspect a lot of former Marvel collaborators are gonna unload on the franchise one day. I suspect the original cut of LaT was more balanced like Ragnorock. We already know Taika was forced to remove all the darker scenes involving Gorr. At least three of his scenes are confirmed to have been deleted. [/quote]
