over creative differences linkSomehow I think they'll survive without him. The real question is...will Budge hold a grudge?

The first season will cost $465 million. Bear in mind the total cost for the Peter Jackson film trilogy was $281 million.

T'is but pocket change! I once spent $466 million on a single, customized handkerchief with my family crest printed at the top

Amazon must’ve seen Disney pimping out Star Wars and thought yeah, let’s do that to Lord of the Rings.
I will have proudly hashtag Never Seen It.

The expanded view of this scene reveals something incredibly interesting Zoom in on the light source. Notice the trunks? Those are the Two Trees of Valinor This is a huge look into this universe. They existed prior to the first age and were the source of all light at that time, before the world of Arda was split following the destruction of the trees by Morgoth, the predecessor of Sauron. There's a lot of debate as to who this person is. Galadriel is possible and makes a fitting option since she opened the LOTR. Illuvitar perhaps? There are several other characters I'm not terribly familiar with who have been mentioned as well. The city is also up for a lot of debate. Tirion in Valinor seems to be positioned for this, with mountains on the side and the trees in the background? But I heard a mention that the city has defense walls, which at the time wouldn't have been something they would have been concerned with building. So other thoughts include cities in Arnor, and the trees aren't literally there so much as it's a composite shot or the beginning of a flashback, or this person remembering where light came from. Curious stuff. Another big thing is that this show is taking place during the second age. So then are the images of the trees simply part of a prologue? Because they would have been long gone by the time of the second age. By then they had been destroyed and their last fruit had been used to create the sun and moon. In any case, this image has me genuinely excited for the show now. I didn't know what they were doing exactly, but this looks as legit as anything I've ever seen.

Full title will be The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. That sounds repetitive.

I love it. It sums up what this is likely to be about now and it’s much more key to the overall story than I thought. Very cool.

So the idea now possibly appears to be the creation of all of the rings of power, especially those gifted to men, elves, and dwarves. And thus it implies the emergence of Annatar. Annatar if you don’t know, was the second in command to Morgoth, the original Dark Lord who was cast into an eternal void at the end of the First Age. Hence Annatar ascended and took on a new appearance in order to befriend the other beings of Middle Earth and eventually bring them under his control. To do this, he taught them the skill of forging magic ring, but crafted a master ring in his own, one ring to rule them all. And while his deception almost worked, and actually did in many ways, he was eventually outed for his true identity as Sauron.
But it deserves to be noted that many other rings were made, not just the 3 for the elven kings, 7 for the dwarf lords, and 9 for the race of men. Those specific elven craftsmen who had learned the skill of forging them were able to craft untold numbers of lesser rings, which were unconnected to Sauron’s one since he had no hand in making them. And this fact is actually the major reason why Gandalf did not immediately know the ring Bilbo bore was the one.

I just learned that this title sequence is not CGI. They actually poured molten metal to form this title and ran a camera over it. That’s impressive.

Can't say I was that fussed on the voiceover from actress who they got to play Galadriel in this...at least not until near the end when she got up to the part "One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne in the land of Mordor where the shadows lie." - that was the only bit where I thought she was on-point with the voice (though, of course, nobody is EVER going to outdo Cate Blanchett's epic voiceover and it's probably a bit unfair to compare).

I truly don’t see how it’s an ounce different than “The Fellowship of the Ring”, and it’s just referring to the creation of the rings of power which tells you what this is about. I think you’re being a little hard on them.
