Now that Wakanda is destroyed and the line of Black Panther is ended…will they finally bring in White Tiger?

Well, I saw Supernova, also with Angela Basset. Career defining performance - IMO. Super powers! Everything old is new again. Zero G love scene was ahead of its time. Deals with interracial dating. Low-key woke, but still very good. What does the eye exchange really signify? It's a mystery! Help me!

A few thoughts a day later...
For whatever reason the Marvel logo filled with Chadwick Boseman was the most emotional moment for me during the entire film. I nearly broke there. Kudos to this film for making me both care about and get excited for Shuri as Black Panther. Lupita Nyong'o has an amazing backside. They had well timed comedy that came nowhere close to overshadowing the drama and emotional impact of the rest of the film. Okoye and M'baku are badass. Really liked the threads of grief throughout the entire film. Its very much about dealing with loss for most of the main characters. Wish Namors underlings, Namora and Attuma, had a bit more screen time. Didn't get to know them as well as I wouldve liked. The sirens were legit scary the first time out. I liked Namors characterization but never felt his intimidation shine through like with a lot of other MCU villains. Iron Heart didn't really give me Iron Man vibes like I kind of hoped it would. The final battle was a mixed bag of interesting strategy and lackluster location and combat. Just didn't have that many really satisfying moments. Didn't like them not letting Iron Heart keep her suit. Kind of confusing where M'baku becomes King.

The final battle was a mixed bag of interesting strategy and lackluster location and combat. Just didn't have that many really satisfying moments. Didn't like them not letting Iron Heart keep her suit. Kind of confusing where M'baku becomes King. I was particularly drawn to Nakia's struggle throughout the film. She does more than pay lip service to the progressive vision of Wakanda she championed in the first film. With T'Challa's illness and subsequent death, I imagine she lost politically ground in that debate. It makes sense that she would want to leave Wakanda as queen Rumunda regressed Wakanda back to a more isolationist stance. Her pilgrimage to Haiti and her respect for and knowledge of other cultures made her feel like more than just a widowed love interest. Surprisingly, I found myself wishing she would take the mantle. It would have made for a striking silhouette at the very least. Suffice it to say Wakanda Forever is a very satisfying film. I'll save my comments regarding RecastGate for the podcast, but overall, I found the movie enjoyable and satisfying, with few exceptions. After the film ended, I immediately began thinking about where the franchise could go from here, and one idea from the more recent comic books came to mind. As Wakanda is besieged by nations who lust after their resources, it may be time for them to expand outward into The Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda. I could have done without Riri Williams, which is surprising because I don't mind her in the comic books. Believe me when I say this is not a majority held opinion. Her filling the role previously held by Shuri, as the talented young savant, seems repetitive and unnecessary in this film. And her "WorldStar" vibe is tragically dated and somewhat offputting. Talokan was perfection. I don't always get what I want from this genre, but Talokan was a note-for-note recreation of how I thought Marvel should portray their version of Atlantis. They may have even exceeded my expectations. Subsequent viewings will tell the whole story.

I will keep my thoughts for Saturday.
However I will say this. As a strong supporter of the #RecastTChalla movement I am very happy anf satisfied how they did it. Like I always said I trust Marvel to do it right. In my opinion... they nailed it.

Saw it…in half. This is a long movie. I enjoyed it for the most, but the action is dragged out with too much posturing and emoting.
And I’m getting tried of these “meet my son” moments.

When I saw it I only had a small coffee to drink...but if I had anything more my bladder probably wouldve been screaming for release.

I can’t honestly comment on it. I fear I’ve lost my interest, and I’m not sure if it’s coming back. :-( There's nothing to fear. When you hear yourself saying things like that, it's likely time to move on. This one was a make-or-break outing for a lot of fans. And, truth be told, it didn't make the grade for most. Fourteen years is a lot to give to anything. Most marriages don't even last that long. The only tragedy in it is sticking around until your disinterest becomes hatred. Haters become ghosts; they haunt fandom hangouts, "keepin' it one-huned," always talking about how the thing would have been so much better if they did this instead of that… And how tired they are of this or that… And I always say to myself, "man, do you eat the unpopped kernels at the bottom of a bag of microwave popcorn, too?" You can't make a meal out of that. You dig? Sometimes you lose it, and it just doesn't come back. I'm heading out to see Wakanda Forever for the second time today. I'm not going because it was a perfect movie or to line Disney execs' pockets with more vibranium. I'm not going to disprove haters or reaffirm the sycophants. I'm going because these stories and characters have been a near lifelong pursuit. They are a source of endless creativity and imagination for me - which, I suspect, is the only real freedom anyone truly has left.

I was thinking about this a little more today and so truly appreciated how Namor was never going to reveal himself or his people. He comes out because of Tchallas decision to reveal themselves, but controlling virbranium from abuse, leading to abusing nations hunting down namor. That leads to tensions with Wakanda who ultimately are resolved. It’s a nice complicated political narrative that all makes sense and leaves nobody as a true villain, just various competitive interests of preservation. It’s good stuff.
