(or, um, Game of Thrones, or Breaking Bad, or The Walking Dead, or The Sopranos, or most modern celebrated TV shows), but this is adorable and hilarious:
Not least, ahem, because I fell for January Jones in 2011, when I first saw Unknown.

It was Joan Holloway (played by Christina Hendricks) for me. I've seen multiple episodes of BREAKING BAD and MAD MEN and enjoyed them for the most part. I haven't seen any episodes of the other TV series you mentioned, except for THE WALKING DEAD, which I didn't really care for. They aired the first three seasons of The Walking Dead on TV here years after the those seasons were aired in America and came out on DVD here. I watched them...and just couldn't get into the show. Were we supposed to be on the zombies' side? And, yes, I call them ZOMBIES...since that's what they are (despite the show insisting on calling them anything but 'zombies'). They never did bother airing any seasons of the show after the Season 3 final, and I honestly didn't really care. I have, however, started watching the spin-off series, Fear the Walking Dead, on Blu-ray (I got it quite a while back and have only just now gotten around to watching). There's an Australian actress in the show who I'm a fan of and...well...that was enough of a reason for me to check it out.

Mad Men is great. It just feels so organic. Great team and show-runner. I watched the pilot three times over the course of years to attempt and watch the show. I didnt like it but then I just became used to it lol.
I guess I liked Roger Sterling the best. Megan was super sexy in that show, so was Pete's wife (character and looks). Obviously Don and Peggy deserve the most credit. Women in real life seem to really like Don Draper.
Community pays homage to Don Draper-Mad Men lol

I've only ever scene a couple of Episodes of Mad Men. I quit The Walking Dead in season 3. I've seen 1 episode of Game of Thrones. Never saw Breaking Bad or The Sopranos.

I watched a few episodes of "Mad Men" but lost interest quickly I've tried watching "Walking Dead" a few times but I always lose interest around the start of the fourth season so I gave up. "The Sopranos" was a good show "Breaking Bad" was EXCELLENT GoT? It really deserves its own thread One series that I highly recommend is "Sons of Anarchy" (AKA Hamlet on Motorcycles). It's a truly awesome series. I was also a big fan of "Justified".

To be fair, I thought Vincent Kartheiser did a good job of playing a pretty unlikable character (he came a long way from playing the bratty teenage son of the title character in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off series Angel), and there were times where I felt a twinge of sympathy for him (he even had some amusing lines/moments - whenever he'd get exasperated over something, I usually found it funny)...but I still relished the moment Lane Pryce punched him in the face. Repeatedly.

Repeatedly. He's good at what he does but just arrogant. It comes from a sense of entitlement and self-loathing. He thinks he should be Don Draper with what he does..admired and respected by everyone. He could be that if he wasnt such a douche

I’m looking for a good show to watch. Mad Men has always been something I’ve wanted to try. Recently in my top ten tv shows thread AQUA JAR!™ and Lord Death Man included it in their lists. What do you two like about it?

ArArArchStanton have you watched it? I know, like me, you're a big Better Call Saul fan and I have heard Saul compared to MM a lot.

And Rhea Seehorn (Kim) wasn't even nominated! 😡

I'm surprised you remembered tha (I'm flat-out remembering things from last week). I watched the series on DVD as each season was released here. If you wish to see actor Jon Hamm cigarette-lighting, smoking, drinking and sleeping around...then you're in luck! As there's plenty of that throughout the series. I did like the show for the most part. My favourite character was Joan Holloway (played by Christina Hendricks). I think Mad Men was the first thing I ever saw Alison Brie in, and I actually liked her character of Trudy Campbell and often felt sorry for her since she was married to Pete. To be fair, I thought Vincent Kartheiser did a good job of playing a pretty unlikable character (he came a long way from playing the bratty teenage son of the title character in the Buffy the Vampire Slayer spin-off series Angel), and there were times where I felt a twinge of sympathy for him (he even had some amusing lines/moments - whenever he'd get exasperated over something, I usually found it funny). But I still relished the moment Lane Pryce punched him in the face. Repeatedly. You have to wait until Season 5 to enjoy that^ moment, though. I do agree with AQUA JAR!™ that the first two seasons were the 'best'. There was still good stuff after that, but I did think from Season 3 onwards felt a bit 'different' to Seasons 1 & 2. [/spoiler]

What do you two like about it? I enjoyed the performances and the settings the most. On the surface, Mad Men seems to be filled with irredeemable characters who lack self-awareness and possess a pathological propensity to self destruct. As you follow the characters through the series and their lives, they become more human and greater than the sum of the horrible things they do. The writing is excellent on the whole, but I didn't think it was quite as good as it was reputed to be. Some of the dialogue feels overly orchestrated at times. Mad Men feels like it's giving you some real insight into the period and settings it depicts. It's worth watching. My only real criticism is that the last season was somewhat weak and meandering.

Does this show do those things as well as BCS? Because if they do I'm in.

The big difference between the two for me is that Mad Men is far more stylized visually. The production design and cinematography are immaculate (especially in the first two seasons), in my opinion. BCS has a very "this is happening now" visual feel, whereas Mad Men makes every frame feel like a timeless painting.
