There’s a rumor saying that the teaser trailer could be attached to Doctor Strange 2. No fooling? Yeah, it's not a stupid move if that's the case.

Multiverse Blue Man Group variants or GTFO. Man, James Cameron sold out to the toy companies and made Avatar for kids.

Michelle Yeoh is more than confident in Cameron’s vision for the franchise.
"So, yes, I am in the Avatar sequels and as you know we can't really talk very much about it. But it's James Cameron! Come on! I would be the tea lady for James Cameron! We shot for a few weeks, and I was so impressed with the work that he's done, the work that he's doing, the energy. He's a genius, he's a walking genius. And I really really enjoyed the experience and I can't wait to go back soon, I hope."

As part of its CinemaCon presentation this morning, Disney Studios has confirmed “Avatar: The Way of Water” as the title of the first of James Cameron’s four planned “Avatar” sequels.
They also confirmed the teaser trailer for the film will premiere in cinemas with Marvel Studios’ “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” next week. The following week the teaser will be released online officially.
In addition, Cameron’s original “Avatar” is set to be re-released in theaters on September 23rd with remastered picture and sound.
Producer Jon Landau was on hand saying each of the planned four sequel will play out as a standalone story and feature its own conclusion – allowing for an emotional resolution to every film. The journey across all the films will create a larger connected saga.
Cameron wasn’t on hand but did appear in a video saying every shot of the new films were designed for the biggest screen and highest resolution: “We wanted to push the limits of what theaters can do.”
In the film, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) lives with his newfound family formed on the planet of Pandora. Once a familiar threat returns to finish what was previously started, Jake must work with Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) and the army of the Na’vi race to protect their planet.
“Avatar: The Way of Water” opens everywhere on December 16th.

Am I one of the few people who didn't like the original Avatar?

Still not interested enough since the first one ripped off all major sci-fi franchises. James Cameron is a great director but also a bit too full of himself. You think so? My most favorite movie to hate is Titanic.

I saw the trailer for this ahead of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. It got a considerable amount of heckling. I tried to tune out all of the "12 years too late" chatter to fairly evaluate what I was seeing. It looks like Cameron is getting a boost from modern visual FX technology. The underwater scenes looked terrific in IMAX quality. A 2" tall YouTube clip isn't likely to communicate the depth of the environment as well as the big screen can. My biggest issue is that the trailer hints at a thematic repeat of the first film - just underwater. For Cameron's sake, I hope there are a few more tricks up this film's sleeve that can raise my interest level.
I haven't joined the formidable James Cameron hate cult that has spawned over the past decade, nor have I ever considered him an unimpeachable figure. I think the truth lies somewhere in between.
I'm actually curious to see what this second film will have to offer.

I don't begrude him for trying to launch a brand new sci-fi franchise instead of dusting off the old one(s). But I wonder if it was just too late?

Cameron is a spfx visionary but he's on board for the corporate agenda so the story will be a Wokenstein monster like the first was. He did push the envelope of spfx which was not easy to do--I saw it on a small tv but I could see that he had achieved an advancement in spfx. The story was entirely forgettable and his lead actor is so boring. He does care about the dramatic side of things but he goes into Cecil B DeMille territory for eye-rolling groans now and then made worse by the political agenda.
I think the reason people laughed at the trailer is because the first movie was not popular. The only draw was the 3d fx.
Wait a minute--is this going to have glasses-free 3D? That might give it a boost if it works well.
I think the future of film will be something that combines live performance with digital holographic images.
