In this films defense, it's not the worst comic book movie ever made. It's one I can't see myself watching again outside of a DCEU rewatch, but it didn't make me want to commit suicide Luke a certain film I won't name.
And this is coming from someone who was a cheerleader for the first Wonder Woman, which I still stand by my statement of it being one of the best DCEU films.

Fun fact about that movie, a friend of mine got turned into a furry because of Sully. She even bought a Sully dildo at one point. I hope it didn’t have the horns on it! Ouch! If it did, she'd be quite...horny...

I liked it quite a bit.
I couldn't care less about plot holes or mistakes, every movie has them.

Didnt we just put out a glowing review for The Batman where the panel (minus Arch, but he is hopeless anyway) gave the movie high marks? WW84 is atrocious to some including me. Anybody is allowed to say that. But anybody is also allowed to say they love it. And yes, that can be discussed. Thats the whole point of Sakaar. Just respect each other's opinion. What did I do? LOL.

I still consider the first movie to be one of the better origin stories of the last decade.
And the second one is still higher on RT than Eternals! That counts for something.

I actually don’t put much stock in these things to be honest. I’m just trolling for LOLZ. Don’t mind me.

I certainly prefer it to WW84.

I’ll just say that my thoughts on the first one are such that the second isn’t a surprise to me. Which has the effect of validating my thoughts on the first one, if only in my mind. :-)

Which has the effect of validating my thoughts on the first one, if only in my mind. :-) The first Wonder Woman film is hard for me to discuss because I'm of two minds about it. On the one hand, the film is earnest, optimistic, and hopeful in a way that shows no disdain for its source material or the genre. That level of fidelity is rare, and some of the best superhero films of all time share these traits. On the other hand, though, the film also feels heavily contrived and riddled with genre clichés. The characters are flat and unmemorable (compare Dr. Poison to Sub-Commander Faura Ul). And while Wonder Woman the film never talks down to its audience, Wonder Woman the character does. The best way to contextualize the film is to ask yourself, would I have thought this film was any good if it starred a man? My answer is yes, but it would feel more like a conventional CBM than an innovative one.

It’s not one of my favorite CBMs. I think the majority of its issues come from me just not being a big fan of the character or her mythology. The reliance on Greek mythos just strikes me as lazy and I find the use of Zeus and Ares to be cringey for that reason. Also, Gal is not a good actress. No way around that. But overall I consider it a solid CBM. It’s very charming in an old school Richard Donner sort of way. The team clearly had a deep respect for the character. Chris Pine totally steals it as Steve What’sHisName. And I really can’t imagine a WW origin story doing a better job. I imagine we can at least agree that it was miles better than Man of Steel?

My answer is yes, but it would feel more like a conventional CBM than an innovative one. My approach is a little more simple. Is it good, with good moments, and an effective audience reach? YES. Does it feel like it was made by people who really had a firm handle on the craft, who mastered what they were going for and didn’t just “get away with one”. No. It feels like a subpar quarterback on a good game who needed the defense to hold it together.

See I actually really enjoy Man of Steel. I’d probably rather watch it than Wonder Woman…although if I’m being honest I don’t rewatch either that often. I’m a big fan of the Man of Steel villains…as shallow as they are. Particularly Faora. I thought she was easily the most threatening of the bunch and adapted to her newfound abilities far quicker than Zod.

Say what you will about Man of Steel, for all of its triumph-of-the-will-style imagery and unrelenting bleakness, the film is confident and focused. If Superman had a Dark Knight Returns, Man of Steel - minus all the product placements - would be it.
