Are we still talking about this movie? LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL dude I love talking about this movie. I’m a sucker lol. It’s such an interesting about why none of it works lol. Like how did they do this, but also have it seem like it works at first glance, it’s amazing! Like I am fascinated by how utterly bizarre this film is. I was just giving lord skull dude a hard time. Don’t mind me.

This is happening. I can feel your anger. Let the hate flow through you. It only makes me stronger. Why didn't you include an image of the Emperor with an evil grin on his face? It's not like they're hard to find. I would have even accepted a low-res gif. This feels like a sleight of some kind. I'm mildly offended.

lol. Oh come on Patty. So she’s tried to retroactively excuse it by saying it didn’t really happen? I call bullshit, because nobody is shown forgetting anything. They all seem to clearly remember what just happened. Nice try Patty. Good luck with your indefinitely postponed rogue squadron film that I’m sure has nothing at all to do with your competence as a filmmaker. Rather than justifying Wonder Woman 1984's creative choices, the quote perfectly demonstrates the level that the film operates on. No matter how hard we try to bury the discussion on this film, there's too much mineral in that soil to mine. It's the ultimate CBM case study. I think it is the ultimate studio. I want to see a behind the scenes on this so bad. I would listen to Patty Jenkins talk for 4 hours about how this film came to be the way it was. And I mean an honest talk. So why the armor like that? Why the invisibility that way? What was the plan with the body swap? Full disclosure. I want to know how each brick got pulled out of the foundation.

Honestly, it’s pretty simple. She’s a terrible writer and should never have been allowed near the screenplay. I have to laugh at directors who think writing is easy. I can safely say without any research that she likely had zero experience in the craft.

This WW hatred is tiresome.
Didn't the Russos have to do damage control after people complained about Steve going back in time to be with Peggy, which made it seem like he was disturbing her happy life she was living, having apparently 'moved on' from him? And also the fact that people questioned whether he was just going to leave Bucky to his torture/mind-control, not tell Peggy about Hydra infiltrating S.H.I.E.L.D. etc? So they came up with the excuse that the Steve who time-travelled started a 'new reality' and that's where all that stuff happened? Point being, there are numerous instances of people complaining about something in movies and then directors do their best to explain it away/'excuse' it.
WW84 exists...so what choices are they left with? They can say that when the wishes were undone, everything that happened during them was (which makes a certain kind of sense). The whole next movie can be like a prolonged episode of Law & Order with Diana taken to court by 'Handsome Man'. Or they can just pretend the second film doesn't exist (which is highly unlikely). I don't know why they wrote it the way they did in the second film, they're trying to 'fix' it...I don't know why they shouldn't be allowed to.
As for the insulting of Patty Jenkins writing...she was part of the writing team for the first film and it was a success, so some of that success should be attributed to her (unless you believe only the male writer/s should be praised). Hopefully she's learned from the mistakes of WW84 and is going to try to course-correct...which I think she should be given the chance to do. After all, how many male directors make 'bad' films yet are given chance after chance after chance?
And it's funny seeing Patty be insulted and then a Jar Jar GIF, since everyone conveniently forgets and/or forgives the crap George Lucas wrote into the SW prequels. But, hey, male director...therefore all is forgiven.

Im just wondering at what point she realized “I have to re edit and cut and reshoot this film”. Did she figure it out herself? Did someone have to point it out to her? How did that conversation go? Was she even aware when they did or did she think it was “studio interference”? I’d love to hear about how that hatchet job went done because she obviously made something terrible. Oh and I want to see the Patty Cut.

Chalice I won’t beat it down further and I’m sorry that it’s gotten tiring. I do find it interesting though so I don’t know where else I can talk about it if not here. But I will say the Steve thing isn’t comparable because that still all makes sense. I’d actually say that’s just fans looking for something to bemoan. The 84 stuff conversely literally reveals some sort of curious behind the scenes decision making and cover up. That’s the interesting part. What went on? They’re on totally different levels. That’s all I’ll say

That’s all I’ll say Discussing Wonder Woman 1984 isn't about hate or punching down on anyone for me. I'm just intensely curious about how we arrived at the final product that made it into the theaters and on streaming. The last movie that I recall discussing like this, even years after its release, was The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Also, an inexplicably mangled follow-up to a promising first entry. There's a behind-the-scenes story that will likely be more entertaining than the film itself (for me). It will be interesting (and somewhat telling) to see if part three references this second film in any significant way, or if they decide to distance themselves from the whole affair and go in a completely different direction.

While I do completely understand Chalice’s frustration at this topic being discussed to death (because, come on guys, let’s be honest here, you do it because it’s a DC movie! ), I just want to say that criticizing a female writer’s work is not inherently misogynistic and that accusation was completely unfair. The only people on this planet I am prejudiced against is Australians. Damn dirty kangaroo riders!

Anybody is allowed to say that. But anybody is also allowed to say they love it. And yes, that can be discussed. Thats the whole point of Sakaar. Just respect each other's opinion. I still cant get over the fact Disney didnt cast Gal Gadot as Pinocchio. I mean the wooden puppet. That role is like its written for her.
