BAM! That scene with the fossilized space jockey is so good. I love how mysterious and eerie it all is. Amazing stuff. I liked both Alien and Aliens. But in my opinion Alien was better. I personally liked Alien better because it was groundbreaking for it's time. The face hugger and chest burster were novel. And it's more horror than action. Yes it has horror movie cliches. But they weren't cliches yet when this movie was released. Aliens is good. But to me it's just an action movie with more of the same. Yes, the special effects are better. But the technology had improved between the two movies. Finally, the last scene is preposterous. No way Ripley could have held on to a ladder with the bay doors open and the queen Alien holding on to her foot --- with a front loader on top of it. Also no man could climb that same ladder after the alien fell off with the bay doors open. And couldn't she close the bay doors with the same controls she opened it with? And why would anybody put door controls in the bay? For those that want to commit suicide? What do you think?

I love the realism of it- it really does feel believable to me, complete with all the awe and mystery of ancient space crafts of advanced civilizations long gone and bizarre extraterrestrial life. Plus the perfect combo of horror and sci fi. I just absolutely love it. And it’s soooo well shot too. Aliens is okay. A fun action movie, I guess, but I do wish Ridley had come back to do it. I’ve only watched it once. Whereas Alien I watch yearly.

It’s got a lot of similarities. I watched it last month and could see the influences it (likely) had on Alien.

To be honest looks too scary for me! 😫 I do LOVE The Shining though. Are you a fan?

I love The Shining. Just like The Exorcist, it has character development. The Exorcist is terrifying !!! But it's a groundbreaking horror movie classic that was ahead of it's time. I love watching young people on YouTube watch The Exorcist for the first time. Inspite of all the grotesque explicit horror in today's horror movies, it leaves them speechless. (It's really the only horror movie that petrified me for weeks after first seeing it.) Speaking of Jack Nicholson, have you ever seen "A Few Good Men"?

Among the next projects on Butler’s slate is Denis Villeneuve’s Dune: Part Two, which will have him play the villainous Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen. While the actor stayed mum on the specifics of the experience, he noted that he was “a huge fan” of the original 2021 film and relished the opportunity to work alongside Villeneuve, who he found to be “an incredible filmmaker, and an amazing person,” to boot. “We had a blast getting to collaborate on this,” he said. “It was just so much fun for me, especially playing this role, to get to do something so different from anything I’ve ever done before.” deadline.com/2023/01/austin-butler-on-lisa-marie-presley-dune-part-two-elvis-oscar-nom-1235238873/

From Dave Bautista: “This is so amped up from the first film. The first film was just an introduction to what this film is. There's just so much going on, it's so much more cutthroat and political and intense. And there are moments of levity where [there are] some funny moments, and they're kind of absurd humor, but there are those moments. So it's just so much more amped up than the first film.” collider.com/dune-2-dave-bautista-comments/

During a masterclass at the Doha Film Institute (via Deadline), West explained how the Dune sequel would be different in many ways and how it will explore many worlds that the first film briefly teased:
"In Part Two, you really dive into the different worlds of Dune. We see what the emperor’s world looks like. We go to his planet. We spend a lot of time on Giedi Prime, the Harkonnen planet. We spend a lot of time in Stellan Skarsgård’s [Vladimir Harkonnen] world. Feyd-Rautha [Harkonnen] also comes into this one, brilliantly played by Austin Butler, Elvis. He is pretty fabulous in it.
All the worlds get expanded. It was about creating three separate, different-looking worlds and also revisiting the Bene Gesserits, the age-old ones with these costumes that almost look like Egyptian mummies. I think it’s visually stunning, the sets, the cinematography and the concepts."
