Well... Im probably one of those that will be dissapointed because of my own expectations. I adore Denis Villeneuve. Dune is legendary property. Put these two together....
So I really gonna have to contain my excitement somehow.

That's a nice poster. But it has the same problem as I had with the production screencaps. It looks good, I see the money in the design. But it all looks reminiscient of Star Wars;please no smartass comments about how Dune inspired Star Wars anyway. That same rustic-retrofuturistic vibe. Maybe it'd look better in motion once the trailer drops.

Low-quality teaser located here (at least until they get rid of it, anyway):

The only thing about this movie I'm interested in is Rebecca Ferguson.

Timothee Chalamet Reveals What Made Dune So Exhausting To Film
linkHere is also a fan-made poster So the original author and creator of this entire fictional universe, Frank Herbert, is just plain Frank Herbert, but the director Denis Villeneuve is "visionary". A guy who is standing on the shoulders of an SF giant and genius... Not to mention the previous creators and directors of DUNE films and miniseries... That's pretty damn shitty, if you ask me. PS - Oh and Denis... Doctor Liet Kynes is a male!

I forgot he directed Arrival. It was a beautifully shot film, and how could I not love seeing those octopus aliens?! 😀 🐙🐙🐙🐙🐙 But I hated the bait and switch plot. Instead of an intelligent sci fi movie about communicating with aliens- which is a brilliantly realistic concept that I've never seen explored- we end up with a story about Amy Adams getting psychic powers.
I should rewatch it, but I was disappointed honestly.

Looks really good... But it's kind of drab and dark. The sets also look a bit underwhelming. Needs more Deakins!

Maybe it'd look better in motion once the trailer drops. Regardless of the reality, it is coming out post years of Star Wars while the original Dune is clearly less popular, so it is stuck with the "kind of Star Warsy" response from the casual viewership. That sticks them with the onus of figuring out how to make this different enough to crush that initial mindset by creating as unique a feel as they can manage in the setting. It will be curious to see how they manage that, but the trailer has left me hopeful. I think the biggest opening Star Wars leaves is in the depth of characters, particularly relationships between them. Bringing the characters to the forefront and relating how they experience this different universe could create such a different encounter that it shuts down the natural comparison.

WB Reportedly Still Unsure About Dune Release on HBO Max. When WarnerMedia first announced their same-day release plans, Legendary Entertainment and Dune director Denis Villenueve were the first ones to publicly express their disappointment with the decision. It was also previously rumored last December that Legendary was planning to sue WarnerMedia in order to challenge the HBO Max release of Godzilla vs. Kong and the highly-anticipated Dune . Despite this, both movies continue to be part of the promo videos for Warner Bros.’ simultaneous theater and HBO Max release. However, it seems the current recovery of theater chains and the resurgence of the moviegoing experience might come sooner than expected due to the recent box-office success of Godzilla vs. Kong .
According to Deadline, there is still a possibility that the Timothy Chalamet-led sci-fi action film might stick to its original theatrical release plan as Warner Bros. and Legendary are reportedly still undecided about whether the pic should also debut on HBO Max or not. With Godzilla vs. Kong ‘s promising opening week numbers, it’s likely that Warner might heavily consider keeping Dune only in theaters.
A mythic and emotionally charged hero’s journey, the Dune movie tells the story of Paul Atreides (Timothée Chalamet), a brilliant and gifted young man born into a great destiny beyond his understanding, who must travel to the most dangerous planet in the universe to ensure the future of his family and his people. As malevolent forces explode into conflict over the planet’s exclusive supply of the most precious resource in existence — a commodity capable of unlocking humanity’s greatest potential — only those who can conquer their fear will survive.
The film will be led by a star-studded cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Chang Chen, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, with Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem.
