You must at least be happy that Venom didnt stay right? Also did I see Kang's place in the Strange trailer or was I mistaken? Also seems like What If could tie into this with evil Dr Strange Im not sure if I saw Kang’s place. I can’t wait for easteregg breakdowns. I’m wondering if any shapes in those cracks in reality were recognizable! Oh but Venom did stay. Now if they do a Venom film in the MCU, it leaked out of that shitastic solo film Sony made. I know Sony strong armed them into this, so I don’t blame the MCU, but fuck Sony. All they’re doing is leaching of a bigger better brand. Apparently there were silhouette shapes of several Spider-Man villains, including Rhino, Kraven and Mysterio.

Scorpion was spotted as well.
I actually can't wait for the Blueray release so that scene can be paused and looked at closey.
I wonder what other Eastereggs were put in there?

So what is everyone thoughts on William Dafoe Green Goblin? I thought he was at his best in this film. That "Norman taken the sabbatical" scene was great, especially the Spidersense build up to it. Who would’ve ever predicted that Willam DaFoe’s Green Goblin would one day become the best villain in the MCU!

He was amazing but he is not even close to being the best villain. That is the dance off in GotG vol. 1.

Whoever plays the next Norman Osborn/ Green Goblin is going to have some big shoes to fill because William Dafoe defined that role for generations. Absolutely top tier villian for the MCU.

Just got back and my brain is going into overdrive trying to express how much i loved this movie. Let me start by saying the Spiderman movies, while entertaining, have never been the whipped cream on my superhero sundae. They were never awful, but rarely great...at least once we had a few dozen superhero films under our belts. However...this one hit me on so many levels...successfully standing on the foundation of the previous 7 Spiderman movies (as well as Avengers and stuff) to present a story that is filled with so much enjoyment that even small side conversations are worth geeking out over. This is a great representation of the benefits of expanded universes, or multiverses in this case. Because it is safe to assume your audience is caught up to speed, and if they aren't it's probably still an enjoyable ride...but if you are caught up, like most MCU or comic book fans are...then all these little moments, conversations, appearances, etc. have so much more weight to them. I feel like i could talk all day about this movie right now so Ill cut it short and read thru this thread, but man...this was such a good movie that again sets a bar for comic book films and shared universes that I HOPE can be surpassed.

Favorite moments...
Dr Strange vs Spiderman...especially his initial escape where he tries to swing away and immediately is teleported back in front of the sanctum. Strange gives off such an impressive display of power every time he's allowed to unleash and it worked here. Also it makes perfect sense Spiderman is good at geometry, what with all his web swinging.
Goblins turn...Dafoe killed it in this film. Amazing how great he feels still as the Goblin 20 years later. But when he officially turns on Spiderman and jump starts his villainy again...by killing Aunt May in an actually subversive move. I thought for sure she was dead but then she stood up and had a nice long speech, and then falls over again I think i whimpered 'nooooo'.
Spidermen talking...when the three Spidermans are all on the Statue of Liberty kind of rapid fire shooting the breeze about everything from their web shooters to which villains theyve fought...and later with the back cracking....I ate all that up and I can't wait to rewatch it because I probably missed some things as i was laughing a lot.
Garfield saving MJ...because it was such a big moment only for that Spiderman in Amazing 2 to have lost Gwen by falling from a great height and having her neck snap...for Garfields Spiderman to be the one that could save this universes MJ in a very similar situation...I mean his reaction alone makes this such a memorable scene but seeing it coming once Holland was sideswiped just hit so many buttons right. Such a great redemption for that character and great acting by Garfield here.
Holland walking away...I was mixed on this as it happened, because Holland and Zendaya have such amazing chemistry, probably in part due to their real life relationship...but as a character this fits Peter Parker to a T...and ties directly in to the beginning of this movie where Spidermans presence in his friends lives caused so much trouble. Of course Peter wouldn't want to risk screwing anything up for MJ or Ned when he sees that they're happy and getting what they deserve. That is quintessential Peter Parker. They could bring it back...and probably will...by having MJ fulfill her own prophesy of finding out who he is, again. But it also allows them to go in a different direction if they want. Personally...at least while Holland and Zendaya are getting along (cuz lets face it relationships can end badly at any time) Id prefer a Peter - MJ relationship in the films. It's been built up so well at this point.
Venom remaining but Hardy going back....I love Tom Hardy but im glad they aren't trying to wrap him up into the MCU at this point. I welcome a slightly different version of Venom. Id welcome Agent Venom but not with the MCU's Flash as he a bit too scrawny to me.

That was phenomenal Also near the end where Tom Holland returned the favor and started kicking Norman's butt. You see him use his webbing to great effect-Goblin didnt stand a chance Cool youth pastor LOL

I also had a blast. I finally got to see it. First time in a theater since Black Widow.
It was fun. For me, it's clear and away the best of the MCU Spiderman trilogy.
Zendaya really impressed me. Tom Holland did an excellent job, and was really the star of his own movie. It's not always easy with a well-known character, and movies like this are usually an excuse to covertly explore somebody else like a villain or side-character. Nonetheless, Holland is pretty much the most interesting character in this, although Green Goblin is biting his heels.
The villains showing up is terrific. Aunt May died. Woohoo to gravity and consequences. The other Spiderman's showing up was great, and the balance between them seemed earned. The trailer asks so many questions, like how does Dr. Strange fuck up this spell? And what in the world are they going to do with these other properties, especially since they all died? All these questions were answered.
I thought it was interesting that Holland went the route of trying to "fix" them. That's ambitious, and raises more questions than it answers. It assumes a degree of being broken, whereas people like Osborne are clearly living their best lives; according to society, he's broken, but according to him, he's fine. Fixing people is tricky because it asks them to accept they're broken, when really, it might be society doesn't have a place for them as they are. Nonetheless, they are villains, but it makes for an interesting moral dilemma.
I really thought for a minute that MJ and Ned would be a couple at the end. When MJ waved pasted Parker to Ned, I swear I thought they were going to kiss. PLOT TWIST! But no, it didn't happen. It's too bad that spell would make the MIT lady forget she was going to go to bat for Parker.
Anyways, I loved it. I thought it was terrific and adorable. The only thing I could have lived without is Willem Dafoe retreading his old line "I'm something of a scientist myself". In that one moment, the fan service seemed inorganic, but that's tiny, so who cares.
I had a blast. Twas fun.

This is easily my favorite MCU film. It dethroned Avengers.

I hate to be negative, but I just saw this movie today and didn’t much like it much at all. Sorry, everybody.
I was mostly bored, to be honest, especially with all the explosions and seemingly ceaseless punchy scenes. Marisa Tomei is great, and beautiful, but her death didn’t move me at all. I didn’t find any of the jokes funny. I felt every minute of the running time. I liked seeing Tobey Maguire again, but frankly he seemed uninterested. I like Tom Holland, and he was fine here. I really liked Zendaya, which surprised me because I didn’t like her MJ before. The best thing about the movie—by far—is Willem Dafoe, whose Green Goblin is as terrifying and amazing as in 2002. One Dafoe closeup is worth a thousand explosions.
Playing the “if” game is always perilous, but I couldn’t help thinking how much better this might have been with Sam Raimi in the director’s chair, bringing real style and personality to the proceedings.
I was really looking forward to this, but unfortunately, yeah, for me it was a big letdown. I’m happy so many people love it, but…I dunno, reading the reviews I feel like I watched a different movie from the rest of the world.

At one point, a character in the recently released Matrix Resurrections says, "Nothing comforts anxiety like a little nostalgia." He was right, of course, but maybe not right enough. Nothing comforts anxiety like a whole lotta nostalgia.
And, why not? The last two years have sucked harder than an exploding pumpkin bomb to the face. We could all use a sweet, sweet hit of that old black magic (even if it's just inverted Stark tech).
No Way Home hits those old opioid centers rapidly, delivering on a silky smooth high that could lead to heavy limbs and brain damage. Every reference, callback, and easter egg is strategically placed for maximum return on your sentimental investment. It got to the point where I thought the film might de-age me whilst reclining in my chair. I could almost hear the screech of my 56K modem lighting the way to Friendster, LimeWire, and other digital skullduggery appropriate to the era.
No Way Home has the dubious distinction of being the very first hotly-anticipated tentpole film that was utterly ruined for me, from stem to stern, by the fine folks who run spoiler culture. Aside from a single plot development that somehow escaped their grubby clutches, watching the film was like reading a transcription of a movie based on a book that you'd read some years prior --- and did not particularly enjoy.
It certainly didn't help that Sony's notoriously incompetent house marketing team ran one of the worst ad campaigns for the film in recent memory. Now there's a train wreck done right.
Of course, the film is bursting with sublimely crafted action sequences, beautiful young people on the come up, and enough middle-aged men to justify a round of Dos Equis for everyone involved. "I don't always squeeze back into the tights for a second go-around, but when I do…."
Tom Holland is just as light and effervescent as the bubbles in your favorite pop - except when he's conjuring up the infinite sadness and melancholy. Could I be tired of those puppy dog eyes? Zendaya is simultaneously in the moment and trying to hide the look of a young starlet on her way to headling her own franchise - coming soon to a theater near you. Black Orchid, anyone? And Mr. Batalon, God bless his heart, looks genuinely "happy to be here."
So was it all for naught? Did No Way Home, and the shenanigans surrounding it depress Death Man so much that he had to throw his heart in the garbage can?
Not quite, true believers.
I actually had quite a bit of fun in the moment. And honestly, I was just as caught up as anyone else in Sony and Marvel's web of nostalgia. Some of the film's gags were genuinely clever (nanotech lockdown, I'm looking at you).
But strangely, now that it's all said and done, I'm the one who can't find his way home. What was it all for? What's it all about, Alfie? Was this elaborately orchestrated nostalgia-fest all in service of a hard reset back to the anhedonic, loveable-loser status quo?
In the immortal words of the Captain, "Oh my…"
And just when I was starting to like that kid who was enjoying his powers and a brand new context in a brand new universe. It seems that dems' the multiversal breaks. Or breakouts. Or whatever.
Goodbye.
