{Spoiler}"3RD SISTER IS SO OBNOXIOUS! HER ATTITUDE IS SO HEAVY-HANDED AND FORCED! JUST A BADLY WRITTEN CHARACTER ALL AROUND! HOW DARE DISNEY TRY TO PUSH THIS NEW POLITICAL ON US!"
"Uh, guys, it's pretty obvious that the 3rd Sister is leaping before she's looking. She's a yong hothead just like Anakin. Just watch, it'll be revealed she's in WAY over her head and will get her comeuppance pretty bad. Besides, we don't really know her deal yet."
"NO, SHE'S JUST A BAD CHARACTER BECAUSE DISNEY'S PUSHING AN AGENGA!"
"Guys, the other Inquisitors practically roll their eyes every time she opens her mouth."
"OH, YOU'LL SEE! THEY'RE GONNA DECANONIZE REBELS JUST TO GLORIFY HER!"
"Decanonize Rebels? The Ahsoka series is a sequel to it."
"SHE'S A BAD 2ND SISTER RIPOFF!"
"Maybe. 2nd Sister never tried to be Grand Inquisitor, though."
(Episode 5 comes and proves everything I've been trying to say right.)
I shoulda bet money.

Did anything goofy happen in the latest episode? I’ve been loving the memes for this show. The kids have really been churning em out. God bless ‘em. One could argue that some of the writing been goofy. I disagree. I think the series has been on-point so far. As for the goofy moments... It's Star Wars. If we're going to complain about nonsense in Star Wars, we're going to have to disown the entire franchise.

And He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named. Yup, just wanted to be unbiased and look at the original trilogy Oh, yes. Fair enough. If we decided to list every piece of silliness that happens in Star Wars, that'd be a task comparable to curating a museum.

In all seriousness though, I’ll say again that if you have to resort to bashing a franchise’s original entires to defend the new stuff something has obviously gone very very wrong. I get the point y’all are making, but still. I mean, there’s goofiness, then there’s goofiness, then there’s goofiness, and then there’s goofiness. Know what I’m sayin?

Also if anyone posted gifs memes or parody videos about Ewoks or JarJar I wouldn’t mind. Go for it. Some of them are pretty funny too!

Some of them are pretty funny too! Sure I did criticize Leia too. One could argue you were being defensive about the holy originals in your previous post. When it comes right down to it, comparing Leia being smuggled out by Obi and Ewoks helping defeat the Empire..there's no comparison at all really

We're not bashing the originals. We're pointing out that it's hypocritical to act like any goofiness from the Obi-Wan series is a deal-breaker today when you let worse pass before. No, I don't understand what you're saying. I don't see the Obi-Wan series as being anymore or less goofy than typical Star Wars. The stuff that's being made fun of are tiny, tiny pieces out of 45 minute episodes that's being inflated into more than they really are.

I think a lot of people waited for this kind of Vader Also, other than "Rogue One" (where Vader only had a small part) this is the first time we have really seen Vader after we got the context of his back story in the prequels. Watching Vader is very different when you know who Anakin is and how he got there. I haven't watched the "Rebels" cartoon so maybe Vader is in that a lot but as far as live action this is the only significant Vader scenes we have seen within the context of the prequels.

Ive seen a lot of negative opinions on this latest episode (and the series as a whole) online and I'm just left wondering why some Star Wars fans are so fickle. Like...Ive seen complaints about Vader in episode 5 because if they have him grab the ship and hold it with the force why doesn't he do it later on in Rogue One or in the original trilogy? Ive seen complaints about too much Reva? I've seen people nitpicking the scenes saying there was no second ship there earlier when there clearly was. It's just really weird to come away from an episode thinking 'Wow that was entertaining' and then looking online to find that so many people are giving it like 4's and 5's out of 10. Like what do they want?
These are the same people that just hated the Grand Inquisitors casting because they thought his face was too fat. And probably the same ones that complained Cad Bane wasn't blue enough. Like I don't think there's pleasing these people.
I will acknowledge not every writing decision has been great. But at the end of the day Im gonna look back on these Vader scenes, and the flashback with Anakin and Obiwan, and even Tala and the silent droids sacrifice...with fond memories.
edit: If anyone here thinks this was a mediocre episode I mean no disrespect. Im more specifically talking about the Angry Joe channel and they're commenters as I just watched their review.

Sometimes it’s okay to just recognize and acknowledge that you’re in the minority opinion. There’s literally nothing wrong with that. I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy The Phantom Menace. But I’m certainly not gonna pretend like it’s as good as the originals, or that it’s a great film, or even that it’s not a severely flawed disaster. I can enjoy it though regardless and accept that most people don’t.
The majority opinion on this Obi Wan show is overwhelmingly and undeniably negative. No getting around it. Accept that and continue to like it regardless. It’s pretty easy if you try.
I hope this comment isn’t taken the wrong way. It’s sage advice. Trust me.

All though I have some critique on this show its undeniable a good show.
Lets not forget the negative discourse online is mainly based on mysogynie and racism. And hterfornlacksnany validation.
And a lot of fans are just dumb. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is hated because it didnt have enough cameos. So I would take the negarive take on Obi-Wan Kenobi with a pinch of salt and watch it and judge it for yourself.

RT critics score - 84% RT audience score - 59% IMDB rating - 7.3 / 10 All 3 of those polls show a majority positive opinion. Do you have a reliable poll that shows that the majority opinion is in fact overwhelmingly and undeniably negative?

I was mostly venting immediately after reading a bunch of comments that honestly felt like they were seeking holes in the story in order to complain. I totally get feeling underwhelmed with the series or thinking certain aspects were mishandled. But I'm also kind of tired of people watching entire tv series that they hate and then continuing to rant and rave about how bad it is. There's way too many other things to watch to waste time on a show you hate. Im saying 'you' generally. I have my own critiques of this show and if they were all like episode 1 (of Kenobi) Id have given up on it weeks ago. But the episodes got a lot better by 3...and then 4 was decent...and i thought 5 was great. So despite the problems with writing or lack of development with several characters there's enough icing on this cake to let me keep eating it. Ya dig?

And I appreciate the thoughtful reply. I think too often there’s a tendency though to paint fans who don’t like something as though they’re doing something wrong, or have an agenda. I’ve been following reactions to this online because I find modern fandoms fascinating. It was especially interesting to see people on Reddit start out with extreme praise only to have that praise deflate into disappointment. I really think a lot of these people genuinely wanted to like the show. At the very least we can call this one highly divisive. The Wonder Woman 84 of the Star Wars franchise, perhaps?

I've also seen articles with evidence of review bombing of this show on RT but let's assume it is honest and accurate. I'm still waiting to see your overwhelmingly negative numbers from a reliable source.

Actually, Disney Stars Wars and the DCEU are quite comparable in a number of ways. It can indeed be interesting to analyze the missteps in the handling of major IPs. And surely fans who enjoy deconstructing the failures of one wouldn’t begrudge those who do the same with the other?

This series actually made me wish we got a post ROTS Darth Vader series where he hunts down the remaining surviving Jedi during the purge. I believe there was a book about that too.
The fact that Vader is the most talked about in this series tells me that Disney made a mistake making an Obi-Wan series.
