Maybe a teaser this weekend during Comic Con. Allthough I can remember when Marvel Studios released a trailer during Comic Con.

Three things struck me about that^ teaser trailer:
1) There seemed to be an obvious lack of central/lead character (I guess this'll be more of an /ensemble/ piece?)
2) When Queen Angela Bassett talks about her entire family being gone...doesn't she still have a daughter (T'Challa's sister, Shuri)?
and 3) There was a surprising lack of Black Panther in a movie that features 'Black Panther' in the title.

Well it's official, if you haven't figured it out from the recent trailer. They killed off T'Challa.
For better or worse Marvel decided not to continue with the character. I guess we'll see how things go with the film.
I guess Chadwick Boseman is the definitive T'challa, for the MCU at least.

That teaser trailer was fabulous. The best one that Marvel has done in years. It significantly heightened my anticipation for this in all honesty. But it sucks that T'Challa is truly gone it seems.

So what baby was being born?
My thought was Tchalla’s son.

I haven’t been this invested in the appearance of a new character in the MCU since Black Panther in Civil War. Starting from the character’s birth and following him into adulthood is an intriguing approach.

Starting from the character’s birth and following him into adulthood is an intriguing approach. It genuinely is and overall they seem to be making this as poetic, personal, character driven, and artistic as anything in the series. I hate to use the O word, but it’s as bait as it gets.

Today I have gone through another roller coaster of emotion regarding this film. Yes I’ve had a very hard time dealing with and reconciling the situation with Chadwick and this character. Btw I’ve driven past a key filming location of the original recently again. But after finding acceptance I was again plunged into a bit of despair that they were in fact moving on. I realized that I hadn’t. But in the past 24 hours, and after a few conversations I feel that I get it. There is a lot merit here and after that absolutely stunning trailer I am again, for the 3rd separate time on board with what looks to be a breathtaking personal epic.

I just watched this and I have to say, 10 minutes in these guys took me to a new level. I watched the trailer again and with all the worry and regret I felt before, a smile crossed my face. They really did it. This is going to be an all timer

There is a lot merit here and after that absolutely stunning trailer I am again, for the 3rd separate time on board with what looks to be a breathtaking personal epic. This film has always had two paths to choose from creatively. They could have recast the character and told a fantastic new sophomore story for T'Challa. They also could have decided to retire the character and start an anthology series. I disagreed with that choice, but I always understood it to be equally valid creatively. Coogler has chosen to honor his friend and collaborator and acknowledge the grief of the fandom. It's a harder road to travel, but at the end of the day, it could be more rewarding, and I think it will make for a film that leaves a more lasting impression. If you've come looking to tick off superhero movie checkboxes, I'm sure you'll get what you want out of this film, but it also looks like Coogler wants to present a vision of humanism with this film. If the trailer is any indication, he may have pulled it off. This isn't a Black Panther movie. It's a movie about a nation under siege. Look at the lettering on the trailer; Black Panther is wholly eclipsed by Wakanda Forever.

At the very least it looks like Ryan and Marvel had a plan in regards to how they're handling T'challa after Chadwick's unfortunate passing. Whether or not that plan will be successful or welcome by fans has yet to be seen. Although i'm sure not everyone going to be happy about it.
I think we should at least give the film a fair shot, emotions aside.
And hey if it doesn't work out, they could always revive T'challa and recast him. It's a comic book movie after all.

Every time I watch this it hits harder and harder. I’m hyped AF. We needed a down to business entry bad. And this looks as legit as they’ve ever done.
