Westworld Outlander Plot Against America My Brilliant Friend Battlestar Galactica (reruns) Please let me know your thoughts on both Outlander and My Brilliant Friend, Darth Ackbar. The former I've been watching on Blu-ray since Season 1 (I have Season 4, I just have yet to get around to watching it. The first season is one of my favourite seasons of television ever, though it does get pretty 'dark' towards the end), while the latter was something I watched on DVD last year and after watching the first season I immediately read the four book series from which its adapted (it was one of my favourite shows I watched last year, though it too can get quite 'dark' in places. Nevertheless, I'm now anxiously awaiting Season 2).

On a related note, Plot Against America and Succession are also all time greats. We are truly in the Golden Age of television!

Shows I'm currently watching on TV (well...I'm recording them and watching them later so that I can fast-forward through all the ads):
Elementary (Season 7). Future Man (just finished Season 1, Season 2 starts next week). Killing Eve (Season 3). Reprisal (Season 1). The Secrets She Keeps (Season 1).
I just finished Star Trek: Enterprise this week (I never saw it during its original run on TV here, so when they decided to put repeats on, I watched it all the way through. There were just one or two episodes I missed some of). They're starting back at the beginning again, but I have no desire to rewatch it. Once was enough.
I do plan on watching Stargate SG-1 - which they're going to start playing repeats of this Saturday. I watched it during its original run on TV here, but I think I missed some episodes.
I just finished rewatching Season 2 of Timeless on Blu-ray (I watched both seasons of the show originally on TV, then got the Blu-rays of both seasons and watched those with some people who hadn't seen the show before).
I'm currently working my way through Season 1 of Legacies on DVD.

On a related note, Plot Against America and Succession are also all time greats. We are truly in the Golden Age of television! I wasn't sure what to make of My Brilliant Friend in the beginning, as I hadn't read any of the books it was adapted from at that stage. When watching the first few episodes, I thought to myself that everyone was very 'intense' (seriously, they all seem to threaten to kill each other over everything - there's even more of that in the books), but I was impressed with the young actresses they got to play the two main characters as kids. I wasn't expecting the switch in actresses to happen so early on, but the ones they got to play them as teenagers were equally good. I was especially impressed by Gaia Girace who played 'older' Lila. She certainly left an impression (and it's even more impressive once you discover that she's never appeared in anything else prior to this/it's her first acting job). The show was tough to watch at times, but it had quite the impact on me. It was one of my Top 3 favourite seasons of TV I watched last year. Season 2 can't come soon enough, as far as I'm concerned. If you get the chance, I'd recommend checking out the Behind the Scenes featurette for the show titled 'My True Brilliant Friend'. For me, Season 1 of Outlander was pretty close to 'perfect'. I haven't enjoyed the seasons after it quite as much, but I still think it's an awesome show.

I tried and failed to watch The Unholy Three (1930), the talkie (and talky) remake of Tod Browning’s 1925 silent film.
Plot: A circus ventriloquist (Lon Chaney), midget (Harry Earles), and strongman (Victor McLaglen in original; Ivan Linow in remake) become criminals and rob the people who mocked them. To do that, the ventriloquist becomes a drag queen dresses up as a little old lady and the midget as a baby. They eventually turn on each other, showing us that crime doesn’t pay.
Both versions star Chaney and Earles and have basically identical plots, and neither is remotely some kind of classic, but the original silent moves, while the remake is basically as slow as molasses.
Not sure why that is. Browning wasn’t some great director, though he did have a visual eye. Despite his habitual and inexplicable reluctance to move the camera, though (a reluctance that makes Dracula slow but spooky), his version is faster-paced and far more entertaining. Meanwhile, remake director Jack Conway made some decent flicks later on but does a horrible job with this remake. You could blame that on early sound technology, sure, but 1930 isn’t too early—and then just look at the movies directed that year by von Sternberg (The Blue Angel, Morocco), Hitchcock (Murder!), Lubitsch (Monte Carlo), and Griffith (Abraham Lincoln). Even just look at a programmer like The Benson Murder Case, which is stylistically and technically lightyears ahead of TUH.
The dialogue is so off, so poorly recorded, so slowly paced that the movie’s basically unwatchable, and I had to shut it off about halfway through.
Unfortunately, the remake was Lon Chaney (Sr.)’s only speaking part—he died soon after it came out, sadly—and he does a fine job.
Anyway, the silent’s better, but the best version of The Unholy Three’s basic plot is Browning’s The Devil Doll (1936). Some significant changes—it’s science-fiction-horror rather than melodrama, for one thing—but the basic premise is the same, and it’s one of the most entertaining and amusing non-Frankenstein horrors of the ’30s.

Also Originals was more aimed at an older demographic imo At least I knew before going into Legacies that there'd be all manner of supernatural creatures and not just the vampires/witches/werewolves from both The Vampire Diaries and The Originals seemed limited to, so it wasn't as big of a shock to see dragons, gargoyles, dryads and zombies. It has taken a few episodes to get a 'feel for the show. At this point I'd say it feels sort of like a mix between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and the Harry Potter movies (with some of the nods to those being being pretty blatant/obvious), and there are at least a couple of characters who annoy me, but it'd taken me ages to get around to watching the last three seasons of The Originals on DVD, and after I finished that show the next logical step was to watch Legacies (I'd watched every episode of TVD and TO, after all. So it was pretty much a given that I'd watch this show too). I can't say I've overly 'attached' to many characters on this show. I like a few, don't mind some others and really what some other ones gone ASAP. I think the show is alright.

Well, as planned, I just finished watching the first episode of Stargate SG-1 which was on TV tonight (ahh, the memories). I hadn't watched this show since its original airing on TV here back in 1997.
I also checked out for the first time the series Happy Endings (the first few episodes were shown back-to-back). I hadn't checked it out when it originally aired on TV here, but decided to give it a go this time around. What I found somewhat amusing was that I recognised an actress in it (Eliza Coupe) who I know from the TV series Future Man (which I just finished Season 1 of earlier this week). She looked quite different without the purple hair that she sports in Future Man.
If nothing else, Happy Endings is worth checking out for Elisha Cuthbert. Something else I found amusing was that in episode 3 they made reference to the infamous 'cougar scene' from the series 24, which involved Elisha Cutherbet's character Kim Bauer. Anyone who watched 24 would've caught that reference.

Candyman
Haven't seen it in a long time. It's a lot more interesting than I remember. Smarter.
ST DS9 - So far so good.
Seen every episode of TOS and TNG more times than I can count. Quarantine blues got my down so I turn to space.

In slowly going through the 90's X-men cartoon on Disney+ at the moment. I'd do that if I had Disney+
Oh man, if I had that I'd watch all those cartoons again, the mid 90's version of each one. Hulk, Fantastic Four, Iron Man...
If I had Disney+ in front of my right now, I'd start with the Dark Phoenix saga, then go back to the beginning.

Sisko is by far the best and most interesting captain of the lot. He's so calm and collected. And he's got a son. For where I am in the Captain to Captains with children ratio, that's a first. I just watched the episode with Q the other night (early first season) and there's a great moment where Sisko knocks Q on his ass and Q says Picard never hit him, to which Sisko replies he is not Picard. I think that's him telling Q and us the viewer that he's not Picard, you're in my world now.

How was the finale? Did it involve the sister battle at all? Or are they still teasing it? No sister battle as yet (I think in one episode there was a mini 'fight' between them, but it basically boiled down to one magically shoving the other away). Unless they do a time jump, I guess it'll be a while before we get to 'the Merge' (as it's called) since it's supposed to occur when they turn 22. I thought the Season 1 final of Legacies wasn't as good as the Season 1 final of The Vampire Diaries, but still fairly decent. There were some amusing one-liners sprinkled throughout. My favourite was actually a line from Lizzie (the 'narcissistic sister' who bugs you sometimes ) regarding her sister, Josie.
