I won't be at the review this week so I will say it here. I think this whole episode was a dream or an illusion of some kind. All of it or just the last 20 minutes? All of it except for the god putting the statue on the shelf.

Something I noticed last week and forgot to mention...I noticed Moon Knight has a TV-14 rating and for comparison Daredevil has a TV-MA rating. So anyone expecting the level of blood and mayhem we saw in Daredevil or Punisher is most likely going to be disappointed. I know we're 4 episodes in already but Ive heard it mentioned from comic fans lately that they are waiting for more gore and I just don't see that in the cards. What’s up with some fans’ need for everything to have gory violence in it? The film that can deliver the thrills and chills without relying on drive-in movie brutal stereotypes is usually the best kind. Other people want to see these films with less gratuitous violence. There are plenty other superhero movies being done with it. They are like folks who put ketchup on everything they eat. I hear the character is brutal in the comics. Im guessing that's where it stems from. Like a trademark of the character even. So in that sense I could understand comic book fans who are familiar and wanted to see that version on screen be a bit disappointed. The closest comparison I can think of for myself is Deadpool. I'd be wary if Deadpool wasn't R rated. Personally I wouldn't have a problem with more violence but I think the story this series is telling is working fine without it. But Im also coming into it with no expectations on characters, plots, violence, etc.

The big problem Im having with that is that this episode is fairly Layla heavy. We spend quite a bit of time outside Marcs perspective. But at this point Im not gonna write anything off this show. Any potential reality could be real at this point...

Of course, because Marc and Steven are in love with her. But she wouldn't be kissing Steven already and there's no way they are going to find Alexander the Great's tomb and how did all those guys with the guns suddenly appear in that room. The story was like fan theories come to life.

I'm guessing that the insane asylum was some kind of a limbo and that Egyptian god at the end will revive Marc and Steven.

Comic book cartoon violence will always appear milder than realistic film violence. There needs to be a balance for movies oriented for families. And the in Moon Knight violence so far hasn’t crossed the comic line level of violence that I’ve seen.

Moon Knight's pivot from violent, street-level noir to globe-trotting, action-adventure serial was inevitable.
Making comic book properties hyper-violent in live-action limits your audience. Live-action adaptations of comic book properties are expensive to produce. Studios usually need to appeal to the broadest audience to recoup their investment.
If all CBMs and steaming shows are violent, the genre becomes violent. You could hope for a Joker every time out, but that would be extremely unlikely.

I just get peeved when “the fans” think all Marvel should cater to them. The vast majority of the paying audience are not fans of the comics.

There is John Wick, DC, and Sony Marvel are doing a lot violent films. I watched The Batman last night and fell asleep. Pattinson is a stiff. The Riddler is the best character.

Sure but I understand fans of the source material being disappointed with adaptations that don't feel genuine. I usually don't have that big a problem with it personally as long as its still entertaining but I understand where it comes from.

Anyway, Moon Knight still has two episodes to go.

The bad guy can summon invisible dogs and some kind of concussive blast if I remember correctly, who knows what other powers he has?

This was Wandavision episode 8 all over again. It truly was riveting. When he’s in the tomb and comes out with Alexander, I was like WHAT!!!!!! The chat with Layla and Arthur, the follow up with Mark, the zombie terror, and then the weird ass “dream?? IDK” sequence. Wild stuff.
