I’m really done making everything possible about race
My stance on race will now be “stop talking about it”

I’m really done making everything possible about race My stance on race will now be “stop talking about it” This statement would appear to be a part of the ongoing campaign to discredit the MCU in any way possible. Race is just the low hanging fruit of the campaign at this point. My significant other is of mixed race (half black and half white), and she agrees that if it's more important for the actor to display their race than to accurately portray the character, we have a problem. Assuming Majors is playing Kang, Kang is not painted blue; he's wearing a helmet. And most importantly, unless there is a hitherto unknown cadre of brown and black painted extras in the MCU, this "factoid" isn't even true. Here's an incomplete list of Black actors in the MCU that do not wear face or body paint and were not in Black Panther. Algrim Mordo Bill Foster Falcon Ghost Heimdall Jim Rhoades Korath Maria Rambeau MJ Nick Fury Valkyrie

She’ll be the last person on Earth still making up statistics to proclaim racial firsts. We’ll have had 3 black, 2 gay, and 4 women presidents, and she’ll be like, oh no but this is the first gay black woman president from Idaho. Thanks Grace. You’re so much help.

No offense, but why do you guys continue to watch the videos of a you tube personality that you don't like? Most people have never even heard of her. It's not like she's hard to ignore. I never understood this getting upset about YouTube channels. No one cares anyway. LOL.

Because the risk of her being able to control so much of the online discourse about certain movies is decently good. She managed to outclout the director the "Birds of Prey" when she tried calling Grace out on her crap.

He's part of the recent growing backlash against the Raimi Spider-Man films, and the X-Men films, so that right there is potential impact he could have on any discourse you have about them.

The point is, if you know what they're saying, you can actually counter them, and that requires staying in the know where it concerns them. It's especially important these days where a person's career, or at least their reputation, can be ruined by even a little thing that starts floating around about them on the internet if it left alone and allowed to grow.

In a way, I envy you guys, who get so much information from youtube. I barely ever use it, except for maybe a music video or two. But that explains why I don't really know who these people are, lol.

I wouldn't be so insistent on checking to make sure nothing potentially dangerous was coming out of these personalities if people weren't getting #MeToo's so easily. We live in a world where Mike Cernovich got a promising director fired from the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. It doesn't matter that Gunn was rehired. No rehiring should have been necessary. I didn't even know who Cernovich was at the time, and being unaware of him did not stop him from hurting someone else for political clout.

If this awful man you mentioned ever tries to tell you something bad about RAIMI™ again you just come find your old pal, Ackbar, and I'll give him what for!

Youre better off. There are some good movie review channels though. That's all I really care about on YouTube.

Whether you want to acknowledge it or not, Social Media has a huge influence and impact on (corporate produced) fandom. A bevy of failed artists, writers, journalists, and other assorted self-appointed fandom aristocrats can take to Twitter or Youtube to DIRECTLY influence the final product of a film that you see. They are becoming disproportionally more influential than the fans they supposedly represent. Of course, if you're a casual consumer of media franchises, and you haven't invested much as a fan in how they progress, then all you need to do is sit back and watch the fireworks. You can throw popcorn from the balcony and laugh until you wet your pants because these nerds are all so funny, ha ha ha... That's truly awesome for you. For the rest of us who are unfortunate enough to be genuinely invested in all this make-believe that we spend a lot of our time on, disinformation campaigns about your fandom are quite distressing, and sometimes even hurtful. Some of us feel obliged to set the record straight from time to time. Never forget that outrage is born of passion.

But, as always, speaking passionately on a topic can get you banned or increase your warning level if it doesn't match the point of view of the majority... or authority.
Either every POV is worth being heard or none of them are.
