The vast arena of gods was so cool, with so many terrific Easter egg characters… until Taikia fucking ruined it with a fucking talking emoji dumpling. I know, right? Marvel Comics is filled with lots of cool deities and they decided to do joke gods.

Marvel Comics is filled with lots of cool deities and they decided to do joke gods. It’s unforgivable. I would’ve loved that sequence so much. The cosmic mythology stuff is so much fun and here’s a chance to show off some really cool bizarre stuff but yeah, let’s let Taikia ruin it. I literally thought “Ok, Marvel. You just lost me. I absolutely do not take any of your world building seriously anymore.”

Like it was way too distracting and it didn't feel organic to the MCU. Like looked like a cut character from the Lego Movie.

To make a lame joke character is one thing- Korg’s god was also dumb AF but at least he fit in somewhat. The emoji dumpling was a total immersion breaker. Just absolutely fucking horrible.

If they are indeed going to show Hulk on SAKAAR then it’s probably a good thing the Gorr kills Grandmaster scene was cut. Now we can get more Grandmaster! 😀 I suspect Grandmaster is happy about this prospect…

I liked it more than I thought I might given the things I heard. Surprised (mildly) at how many cameos and stars were in it. Welcome Melissa McCarthy and Russel Crowe to the MCU. His Zeus was... odd. Apparently he sold Taika on the Greek accent. For some reason, I still think of Crowe as being a bitch between takes no matter what character he plays these days. It stands out more when he plays funny characters. Also, that God that Christian Bale killed at the beginning totally had it coming.
Also yes that bao dumpling God thing was pretty silly.
Very Guns and Roses heavy too; not that it's a bad thing. All the references to "Axel" and I still didn't see it coming.
So, Hercules, huh.
Pleased that Tessa Thompson didn't die. I really thought she might. Maybe the god killing sword didn't kill her because she's not a god, so for her, it was like surviving a regular stab-wound?
I wouldn't have minded if Korg died though, if for no other reason than for Zeus to remind everyone that he's the king of the gods instead of Hedonism Bot from Futurama. Those would have been decent stakes.
I like the imagery though, as usual. Space dolphins and planets incomprehensibly far away. Shadow realms where colour doesn't dare tread, and entire planets that are a shallow pool with one guy made of a galaxy just chilling there waiting for people to come along and make a wish. I like it.
Most of all, and to my surprise, I liked Jane Foster. I thought this was Natalie Portman's best MCU outing, and while I know Thor loves her, their emotions toward each other seemed more balanced this time. It got a little tedious watching her dote on him. Maybe she's just a way better actor (she is), but I still like that he was as hung up on her as she on him.

The fact I saw this movie only once in the theater and that in the last week I havent even thought about watching it again is telling.
I did order the dvd though.

Pretty much agree with all of this.

I had issues with this movie and that doesn’t happen for me often with marvel movies. Thor has a vagina now and should be selling Girl Scout cookies at this point
