Great review guys. Yeah pretty much what Taylor said with the kids, also he did have Zeus' lightning bolt around at the time. In saying that, it is one of the scenes I didnt like, felt too Disney at that point lol. They may as well have the kids throwing water balloons and yelling love at the shadow monsters hahaha Good catch Taylor with the Korg's mother...hmm wonder why that was retconned...either way felt really forced...totally missed The Rock reference btw lol To be fair, we dont know what Gorr said in his wish. I suppose he couldve said bring her back to life and that he wanted her to be protected too, maybe against Gods? Makes sense to me I hope we see more of Sif in the next Thor movie. Thor's Asgardian friends havent been treated well so far

Thor Love and Thunder...I loved it! I thought the humor was fine. Same levels as Ragnarok, and I actually thought the movie had a lot more emotional moments than Ragnarok. Particularly with Jane. Gorr was a solid villain with an easy to understand motive. The action was all very solid and vibrant on screen. The biggest issue I guess I have is that moment when Gorr gets Stormbreaker and the heroes all get sent back to earth...then theres this moment of calm where Jane goes into the hospital and gets some tests done and all the characters are acting like they have time to rest here when Gorr should be moments away from destroying all the gods. They shouldve been scrambling to get back to him the second they got back without Stormbreaker. I was initially worried because I was looking forward to a Guardians movie with Thor on the roster...but honestly Thor is such an overwhelming character that Im kind of glad they showed like 20 minutes of fight scenes and fun dialog between Thor and the Guardians and then they moved onto other supporting characters. There wasn't enough room in this movie for all that. I liked the Jane stuff a lot. From the cancer to the hammer to her struggle with both and her ultimate sacrifice to save Thor when he needed her. I was glad to see she got into Valhalla but I kind of hope her character is done. I don't really know what to make of Hercules. He's cool to see and I know he's a comic character but I didn't cream my shorts at his arrival. I did like Zeus and all his douchery. Also his Zeusette all the way on the left was smoking. They were all hot but I kept trying to see her. I think shes the same one Valkyrie kissed on the way out. Overall lots of fun action with a cool villain, colorful sets and a heart at the center of it. Ive got very few complaints with this one.

Also just a thought on Thor sharing his power...I kind of assumed it had at least a little bit to do with Zeus's thunderbolt weapon. But I also like the notion that kids are worthy. Or just the loophole of Thor sharing his power, probably making him a bit weaker in the meantime, thus allowing Gorr to get the better of him in that following fight.
Either way...watching a kid shoot laser beams out of a stuffed teddy bear was a hoot.

Insane!
Brief thoughts
- Love Gorr. Bale was incredible, his story was epic, and the presentation was intimidating AF - Love Jane!!! So glad they went with the cancer plot. It felt like the only option the moment I heard about it and it played beautifully - SIF IS BACK!!! That might have been my biggest cheer moment. I felt it was coming when she cameo’d in Loki, and although it was brief, she is back! - Wonderful soaring use of the Guardians to transition quickly and keep them on everybody’s mind. Glad to see them again but equally glad they didn’t dominate in any way - The whole thing felt extremely marvel comics cosmic, with new alien races and villains. - I was worried they’d actually killed Zeus for a minute. Pretty strong strike against Thor but he’s coming with a vengeance and I can’t wait to see that one. - I like the final goodbye for Heimdal and Jane in Valhalla - Ultimately Thor will be king with Sif is my prediction.
More thoughts to come I’m sure

Astounding.
Loved the zany energy, but are we veering from comedy into goofball territory? As much as I adored this film, I don't think we'll need a third helping.
Lots to process… and I gotta hear what the Champions thought.

Lots to process… and I gotta hear what the Champions thought. I do also wish they’d carefully reign back in the zaniness slightly. It’s not too too much but I think a nice balance between 1/2 and 3/4 would be more where I’d like to be for a franchise that will apparently be Marvel’s longest running.

I'm not sure if it's quite as bad as The Dark World, but it's pretty close. You can actually see spots where it could've been good if it had been in the hands of another director, but Takia can't help but every five seconds insert his shitty cringy comedy that just isn't funny and derails the movie anytime there is a genuine emotional moment.
It feels like another one of these MCU movies where the story is just an after thought to set it up for the next movie and is actually pretty boring. It was really hard to ignore just how awful the writing in this one is. If you thought the script for Doctor Strange 2 was bad you havent seen anything yet. Christian Bale is good, but wasted on a generic villian character and Russell Crowe was awful. Even the action scenes just felt uninspiried and were not well filmed. I actually almost felt dizzy at a few moments from how much the camera was spinning around.
There are a lot of factors as to why this was a terrible movie, but it really comes down to Takia being full of himself per usual and his horrible script. Even though Ragnarok was decent, they should've gotten someone else. For the love of god keep this man away from Star Wars.

If Taika Waititi returns for Thor 5 I hope he doesn't help write the script.

Got back from vacation today and felt like going to see Thor 4. Hopefully it’s a good-un. Got my banana icee and seat all ready. I can hear thunderstorms through the exit door tho so hopefully the power doesn’t go out. How’d it go?

Can someone please tell me how much screentime Sif got and whether she survived or not? She’s in one quick scene. The entire thirty seconds of it is used to make a “joke” out of her severed arm. Marvel put it in the movie for people who hate Sif and think amputations are hilarious. Apparently that’s a big target audience.

Can we please talk about the fact that they basically added a Pixar character and made it a God in the mcu? That thing took me out of the film. Should've done Frog Thor instead. Damn right.

Also Ive heard that along with a lot of Gorr scenes, that Jeff Goldblum had some scenes cut (wouldve loved to see the Grandmaster again) and Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage also had scenes cut. Dinklage was the dwarf who forged Stormbreaker, not sure who Lena wouldve been but its presumed she was Amora the Enchantress. I've always liked Enchantress. A shame. I hope there will be an extended cut some day.

How ironic that he says in that^ article "directors need to be controlled sometimes" when it sounds like *he* was the one who needed to be controlled with this movie. Just another reason I don't like the guy.

Just another reason I don't like the guy. Once they go to the extended cut version, it’s the kiss of death for the franchise. That there was two hours of footage never used means they didn’t have focused script going into this film. It is the filmmakers’ job to make the movie, not the fans. They turned Thor into an enjoyable theme park ride. Beyond a Marvel fan, I’m a long time moviegoer and like to see a good director or actor do his or her thing. Right now, the MCU movies are rudderless.

Just going by a few reviews, I hope this is the last gimmicky movie for a while. Enough with the Marvel candy, please start telling some stories, Kevin. I like the phrase “Marvel candy”. It perfectly suits a lot of what Phase Four has to offer. You might catch me reusing it from time to time.

Gorr has got to go near the top of anybody's villain list. Bale nailed it. I barely recognized him at times and it was just a tragic beautiful tale where he chose to be good.
I want to know how that sword came to be

The vast arena of gods was so cool, with so many terrific Easter egg characters… until Taikia fucking ruined it with a fucking talking emoji dumpling.
