The costumes look great. I hope the cgi backgrounds dont give me that fishbowl feeling.

Gran Gran is too real.
They all look really good. I think Suki looks amazing. June and Jet too.
I'd be lying if I said I wasn't curious now. I never saw the movie but I loved the shows. It'll be interesting to see if they do the whole first season of the animated show across one eight-episode season or fan it out over more. I can't get over Suki's armor and makeup.

I was worried she had gotten tired of the attention the role gave her. Seems like I saw so many interviews where people talked about that dance scene and she always looked so tired of talking about it. Glad she's still on board.

The problem with a perfect television show like the Last Airbender is that...this trailer looks great, but I don't know how it can improve upon the animated show.

The problem with a perfect television show like the Last Airbender is that...this trailer looks great, but I don't know how it can improve upon the animated show. Same here. I'm pretty dead set against 10/10's and calling things masterpieces, but I'll be damned if it didn't hit on every level as a perfect show. And I saw it late too. Truly, the first episode I caught a glimpse of was in season 3 when Zuko followed everyone to the Western Air Temple. Just through that episode I thought he was the main character, not yet realizing the story revolved around Aang, and that they all had reasons for distrusting Zuko's offers. Still, as good as the show looks and as good as I'm sure it will be, it seems superfluous to expand upon a show that was a slam dunk/grand slam on arrival.

My first exposure to the show came when my younger brother and sister were watching Nickelodeon. I was too old for that kind of stuff generally but the action scenes in this animated show caught my eye. Then I found I was watching the show without them and fully invested in the story. Its really one of the few perfect shows. There might be one wasted episode, at most. Every episode offers something of substance for characters or plot.

I never saw The Last Airbender movie. I didn't know the show before it came out. It might be fun to watch now just for the sheer curiosity. I heard it got panned but that was before I saw the source material.

It was during the initial Avatar run…I don’t remember if it was season 1 or 2 but I know I got interested before season 3 aired because my cousin was also watching it and I remember us both talking about season 3. I watched most of Korra. Still haven’t finished it but I’ve seen I think 2 seasons at least.

It's worth checking out in my opinion. I'm always skeptical and cautious to say such and such is good. It always pings my inner "it's art" alarm. I never know if anything's good. I only know what I like. The Legend of Korra shined in the 3rd season, in my opinion, because it started showing serious evidence of a coherent story. It took the first two seasons, which seemed a bit disconnected from each other, and connected them to each other as well as itself. Korra season 3 is my second favourite of all the seasons second only to The Last Airbender Season 3.
Season 4 was tricky. I'll try to say as little as possible, but Korra (herself) had some issues and had to do a bit of a retraining arc, whereas in Season 3 she was essentially peak Korra. I'd say she was at her strongest, wisest and most relatable. That's the Korra I wish we got a bit more of. Season 4 I liked but it is one of those seasons that makes me wonder about a different season that never was. It wasn't the direction I'd have taken the story, but I don't know where else to take it so it's kind of moot. I really liked the villains in season 3 two; they're quite up there with the villains whose point of view demands that you consider how strongly they believe they're the good guys.
It'll probably still be another few years until I can re watch either of them, though. I abused the privilege so hard. I finished The Last Airbender (on DVD) just as Korra just happened to be starting, so I watched that one week to week. Some of its misses are more interesting than its hits, and I think people are generally on the right track comparing Korra to Zuko, in terms of their ability to control their emotions.
Either way if you do get to it, I hope you enjoy it!

Edit: Just realized I never said what show I was watching on Netflix, lol.
Live action Avatar: The Last Airbender
I am 2.5 episodes in and…not without its criticisms but so far so good. The first episode was the best so far. Unfortunately the animated characters have displayed more emotion than most of the actors here. Aang, Zuko and Iroh being the most well portrayed so far. Unfortunately Sokka and Katara feel a little off. As do what I’ve seen from Azula, Ty Lee and Mei. Ozai and Suki were both good. Zhao is a choice that’s growing on me. Some creative choices make me go ‘hem’ but the overall aesthetic, visual, music, set pieces, and action scenes all are pretty solid.

I stopped at 4 for the evening but just want to say ‘hats off’ for the character theme musics. They match the ones you’d expect from the show. Zuko has these wind pipe sounds, Azula has her evil theme, Iroh has Leaves from the Vine, etc. it’s a really nice subtle touch that could’ve gone by the wayside but its inclusion leads me to think they really do love the original cartoon.
