Yeah it's really hard to say with F4, also considering the MCU's track record of late..but Im optimistic about the movie
Personally, I still wana see that previously planned Gambit movie with Tatum. That had a great plot
What was the plot to the Gambit movie? From what I've heard it was a Mr. and Mrs. Smith-themed rom-com.
In October, Kinberg confirmed that the version of the film they were developing was significantly different from their earlier plans, which is why the tone had changed from a heist film to a romantic comedy. He elaborated that some of the heist elements remained in the film due to Gambit still being a thief, but the focus would be a love story between Gambit and Belladonna.[66] Kinberg compared the new direction to Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), which he wrote, as well as The Philadelphia Story (1940) and His Girl Friday (1940). At that time, Daniel Woburn of Screen Rant opined that the film, which he described as being in development hell since 2014, was likely to be canceled once Disney's acquisition of Fox was complete since Marvel Studios would want to integrate the X-Men characters into their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In my mind, it plays out like a Sony Universe picture of the Venom/Carnage variety that is probably not very good, but it wins points because of an earnest effort from Tatum to make it work. Thus, it probably comes out as a not particularly great film, but a film that Tatum has a lot of fun onscreen and therefore inspires a cult following. That's my impression of how a Gambit film would go down. I've no idea what the plot would be. Gambit in a romantic comedy? I dunno... I like playing up his history as a thief. Perhaps a heist gone wrong wherein he is betrayed and gets revenge? I know that's been done a bunch of times, like Blue Streak with Martin Lawrence, but I could see that.
Or maybe have him be brought in with Deadpool?
I've no idea how to make a modern Fantastic Four work either. My creativity is tapped on that one. Drawing blanks.
