What do you think of his performances so far? Nothing special imo but he does have potential. Maybe I feel that way because I havent seen him in anything else but being typecasted

I can only think of a few of his roles off hand but they’ve all felt similar.

He's a competent actor who deserves to work. On some rare occasions, he does show potential for greatness. That said, he hasn't reached his father's level of talent and likely never will, but that's fine. I think he's booking work that is commensurate with his ability.

Only seen him in Tenet. His performance isn’t terrible but it felt very forced.

The movie I liked him the best in was BlackKklansman and a part of it is I think he's allowed to be a bit more lively and theatrical than what I've seen from him in other roles. Merv, described it best - he has a subdued, almost restrained screen presence. And maybe it is because it seems he's usually cast as the straight man to a more flamboyant or quirkier costar like Pattinson in Tenet or Bale in Amsterdam.

I don't mind his work when he's more subdued. I thought his performance in Tenet was serviceable. His major problem as a performer is range. His worst performance, in my opinion, was in Creator. He tried to deliver a more urgent performance that somehow became unintentionally comical to me.
