How much do recommend watching Jaws? oh it’s a must watch No question It’s classic cinema. If you haven’t seen jaws, make an evening with no distractions, get yourself a tasty beverage and some snacks and just sit back and enjoy a Hollywood landmark.

I don’t usually have specific beverages for movie rewatches, but I do always make a point to watch Jaws in July with a cold beer. Sometimes with seafood too. 😎

Definitely watch it, it’s a classic for a reason and Robert Shaw’s performance is so good that it overshadows all the imitators and parodies since.
My heresy about Jaws—to be read after you see it—is that I see it as two great movies stitched together rather than as one great movie all the way through. The first half is horror, the second is adventure, and I wish the union of the two came a little more naturally. Still, both halves are lots of fun.
In my high-school film class, my teacher was obsessed with Jaws and made us watch the USS Indianapolis scene over and over again as a lesson in how to shoot dialogue scenes. For one of my movies I shot a take-off on the scene, just for my teacher’s sake; of course, he didn’t notice!

Not only do I recommend it...I'd make it mandatory. Like signing up for Selective Service.

It's still on my list
Like Ack says I have #neverseenit too but I have #heardofit of course
Out of curiosity to those that have seen both and I do realize they are different types of films but which did you enjoy more?
2001: A Space Odyssey (I have seen this one) or Jaws?

I hated 2001: A Space Odyssey. I was very excited to see one of the most talked about sci fi movies of all time and I was left confused and disappointed. Jaws is one of my favorite films of all time. I can watch it any time any where. Its a splendid mixture of adventure and horror. On the Merv scale these two movies are polar opposites...lol.

That's my most recent watch. lol
Like Jaws himself, I'm on the hunt for Jaws. It's not on Crave, Disney + or Netflix. I may have to straight up download the thing!
I loved 2001: ASO I cannot tell a lie. My advice for pretty much all movies is whether you love it or you hate it, you'll never know unless you see it.
Biz, that's my advice to you. I can't promise you'll like it at all, but I can guarantee if you don't watch it you'll never know, and I recommend watching it if for no other reason than that.

Very different movies. In fact, i’m kinda curious why you chose to compare these two… ? Personally I’d go Jaws because I’m a Spielbergo fanboy. But, I’m also a bit of a Kibricko fanboy too. Jaws is just a warmer movie, I guess. More humor, stronger emphasis on characters, better dialogue. Spielberg gives a tour de force of his strengths. I also love 2001 for its visuals and high concepts but Kubrick is rarely interested in developing characters beyond plot devices so while I do admire his films I will always prefer Spielberg’s style to his.

It just goes to show what utter madness the streeeaming landscape is when one struggles to find a masterpiece like Jaws. Buy the 4k blu ray, my man. It’ll melt your face off (in a good way).

It's one of my favourite of Kubrick's films, but to this day I can't name an actor in it. I'm a big fan of Stanley Kubrick's work, but I do sometimes feel that Kubrick is the star of his movies. There's no shortage of good performances in them, but I often feel the best of them are just a little overshadowed by Kubrick, with the possible exception of Jack Nicholson in The Shining.

Jaws is about people. 2001 is about computers, spaceships and unseen aliens. 2001 is a good movie but doesn't have the magic touch that Jaws has.

It was ok but I'd be lying if I said I didnt find some of it to be boring. I find this and Godzilla Minus One to be kind of similar films in a way. Thought that was ok too. However, I preferred the personal story and military aspect in Godzilla

Due to circumstances that are on a need-to-know basis, Amazon Prime has recently become available in my house, and it has Jaws!
By weekend's end I will finally have watched Jaws. Tis my mission. I really thought when I started this thread it would be easier to find, but nonetheless I found it.
