At least she didn't try to blame "sexism", so good for her.

The fact that she's writing for her character is excellent news. She could grow into this character while pursuing other work - the comics never really let Ms. Marvel become anything approaching an adult because she's stuck with this thing where she has to be a perpetual fan girl. The few times she's been more rebellious, Champions and X-Men vs. Inhumans are quite good.

So I can forgive them for not developing her character tremendously.

So I can forgive them for not developing her character tremendously. That is fair. And, also in fairness, most comic book characters get stuck at a certain age with a particular mindset and belief system. That said, having been introduced as a young teen with decidedly teenaged problems, Kamala is wearing a bit thin for me - as her journey has been a protracted coming-of-age story with no payoff. I might be overly harsh in her case because her character must be an interesting superhero and a window into the Muslim world. Compare her to Miles Morales, a moderately older character; even though I'm not a super fan, his dramatic progression has come a long way since his introduction (at least in the comic books). His relationship with his legacy counterpart is less about hero worship and more about learning life lessons from the elder Spider-Man. They've managed to pull off the magic trick of Miles becoming a somewhat more grounded character while retaining his youthful energy, as he is typically the youngest of any group of superheroes he is a part of.
