What thoughts would they have about us in the 20th or 21st centuries? Would it be favourable? How do you think life would look like assuming we havent killed ourselves off? oh Johnny those were the times when they were destroying the planet. Oil spills, over-fishing, no contraception in China or India, bulldozing rainforests. People became VIPs by having a sex tape. All those wars-like rabid dogs fighting over a dog biscuit.

I'd guess in a lot of ways it would be favorable, in that it was the dawn of the technology age they would be fully living in. They'd look at this as a transitional period, only 100 years older than the first car but that also includes perhaps the first footstep on Mars. Far far far far far more has happened in our lifetimes than anybody in history ever experienced. For them the world almost never changed and neither did the bad habits we inherited. I'm hopeful our bad habits will be looked at as a steep learning curve and a time when humanity took the last step out of our barbaric past.

I think they'd be amazed at the things we were able to build at our level of technological sophistication, much like we are amazed at the things that were built by ancient cultures 3,000 years removed from our time.
Other than that, probably only the most diehard specialists will care. Most people will utter the 5020 equivalent of, "That's cool" when some new artifact is unearthed, much as we do when we see an article about some dig in some ancient land now, and then go right back to whatever they were doing and forget all about it.
I don't think they will see the wars and battles of the our century or even the preceding few as being formative to their society in any tangible way, again, except for those specialists. Our lives will probably be lucky to garner a chapter or two of an ancient history text that makes students roll their eyes at the thought of having to read about it.
