The person above this post has a cringe take.
DS9 is by far the best Trek has ever produced
Enterprise was not so bad
Disco is not Trek like it used to be but still very much Trek.

Because Gene Roddenberry had laid out ( in two shows and in films ) a positive, upbeat and optimistic view of the future, travelling through space, exploring new life and new worlds.
DS9 ( which he had nothing to do with ) is negative, downbeat, and pessimistic, sitting in place, exploring nothing.
They even go to war, something he had always avoided showing.
DS9 is Star Trek "in name only"

All the movies suck. Every one of them. Especially the new ones. And yes, even Wrath of Khan. None of them feel like Star Trek.
Although I haven't seen any of TNG movies, so maybe those are good. I don't know...

Chris Pine is a better actor than William Shatner, and better for the role.

DS9 is Star Trek "in name only" Babylon 5 is apparently similar and the guy pitched it to the star trek network at a certain point. This could be why. I think there was a legal dispute too

I prefer DS9 over TNG. TNG was the more popular series but I thought DS9 was far superior.
