Anytime something says it is "updated for a modern audience" you know it's going to be crap.

They do it on movies for blu-ray and streaming as well--without telling you.
I have heard about movies being edited to remove nudity or use of words they used to use in reference to homosexuals etc.
All these movie and book companies are owned by huge corporations with centralized management. It's not possible for them to go broke. They have too much money coming in. This is why company mergers was never a good idea. The bigger the company, the less reliant it is on public consumer power.
It's like a clique--they hire only people who think like them--so it's a bubble of 1% club ideology.
It's worse than book burning--those are public demonstrations of disappointing. A mob action. But this is minority bureaucratic decree and they are not banning a work-they are altering its history. They want to re-educate the reader or viewer and lie about history.
“Every record has been destroyed or falsified, every book rewritten, every picture has been repainted, every statue and street building has been renamed, every date has been altered. And the process is continuing day by day and minute by minute. History has stopped. Nothing exists except an endless present in which the Party is always right.” George Orwell
