As far as the director goes, I only saw DON'T BREATHE which I quite liked.

Speaking of ALIEN, I remarked elsewhere that Ridley Scott was forced to make an ALIEN movie when he didn't want to--he wanted to do his own universe and compete with AVATAR supposedly but then they insisted he add some alien elements. Did he really want to return to ALIEN after AVP 2 when the alien is spotted at Walmart?

No, I haven't signed up there yet. At least I don't remember signing up and I haven't read or posted anything over there.

I do think this is a series that perhaps surprisingly has more miles to it. I’m probably wrong but after playing Alien Isolation, I do love being in that world. Prometheus I thought was a good idea that wasn’t exactly polished. Forget the sequel to that one altogether. No idea what they were going for there. But there could still be some spinoff material elsewhere in the franchise worth investigating

The original Alien franchise is one I really enjoy. The first two films are easily 10/10 for me and some of my favorite rewatches of all time. I even enjoy Alien 3 and Resurrection quite a bit. Its with Prometheus and the others that I kinda started going 'meh'. I assume its because it started getting away from those slasher style roots I loved and got a lot more existential.
I did grow to appreciate Prometheus more after a poster on old imdb named robertnyc explained some things I missed...but that was a decade ago and I'll be damned if I can remember what he said to me now. Good guy that robert, he lent me his amazon account so I could watch Sons of Anarchy. I wish I kept in closer touch with him.

One of the cast members talks about Alien: Romulus. From David Jonsson: "I mean, I'm not too sure what I can say just yet, but I know that... I know that it's very, very, very different. I think Alien was slightly before my generation, in terms of its depth and its impact at the time, but you know, we have such an incredible spin on it. And we had Fede Álvarez as our director, Ridley Scott producing it. It was incredible to work with those people, and opposite Cailee Spaeny, who is just a brilliant actress. I think it's going to be cool. I'm very excited."

Nice. Looks a bit more kinetic than the earlier installments that relied more on puppetry rather than CGI. Nothing terribly new here, but if it's as good or better than Prey, I would consider that a win.
