It’s been prob 20 years since I’ve seen it so I don’t feel confident stating an opinion. All I really remember is thinking it odd that the movie wants me to root for a romance between 1st cousins.

True. Im also not claiming its on the same level as the first two. But it is a good movie. And 1st cousins romance? That happens a lot worldwide. Its truly not that uncommon. I wouldnt call it healthy but factually its really not uncommon.

It probably wouldn’t even register after going down the Game of Thrones rabbit hole of inbreeding but that’s what my thoughts were at the time.

Coincidence: I’m actually planning a rewatch of the first two for this weekend with my brother who has #NeverSeenIt. I will NOT be including part 3.

I like The Godfather Part III. Not only is it the only one of the trilogy which I've watched, but it's also a movie I've watched twice.

I thought I was out and they pulled me back in!
I know this isn't entirely relevant but this is such a good improvised audio short subject with Pacino:

My problem with The God Father III is that the period it depicts (the 70s and 80s) was an extraordinarily violent and tumultuous time for the American mafia in real life. There was an incredible amount of gun violence fueled by a new breed of younger mafioso who wouldn't play by the rules of the relatively civilized 50s and 60s outfit. Coppola - inexplicably - decided he didn't want to make another street-level mob movie, even though Godfather III was perfectly positioned for it. Instead, he focuses on the mob's involvement in political and papal scandals.
The "trying to go legit" subplot was bland, and nothing makes a movie more boring than featuring the Pope.
If not for Andy Garcia, the film would be unwatchable to me.

I always liked it. Sofia Coppola's performance is still horrible. I remember thinking before I first watched it, but afterward....holy shit.
