Johnny Galecki said he ended the show because he didn't want the show to "jump the shark". I say the show jumped the shark right around the time everybody got married.
The jokes got old. The fact that super smart nerds never gained any social skills was no longer funny, but annoying.
Don't get me wrong. The show was always good. But the novelty and quality went down somewhere around where everybody got married.
What do you think?

I’ve seen the show but I didn’t follow it when it was popular, and I definitely haven’t seen it in its entirety or in order. It was fine for what it was but it wasn’t a show I couldn’t wait to watch the next episode for.

Like every sitcom this show went through ups and downs. But I do think you're right. Oncr they moved on to their married adult lives it lost its core.
