Look if we can get 50+ comic book movies and shows, then we can get another Friday the 13th film.

It's kind of insane that the last one came out in 2009. Meanwhile how many Texas Chainsaw movies have there been since?

I don’t begrudge them making more scary camp films but I think they should go back to it being a normal guy Jason at a camp. That’s actually more scary than the unstoppable super human he morphed into. The first 4 Friday the 13th films are the best in the series. After they took a blank in part 5 and then brought him back from death in part 6, I don’t think they’ve ever found the right vibe since. Start it over, and leave him a mystery. Who is he? Why is he doing this? Have the characters present a variety of theories. Have some cops follow a handful of very different leads. That’s what I’d do

I think the big reason we haven't is the rights have been in court for years. I'm not sure what the latest update is. I'd welcome a new Friday the 13th. If they do wind up making one I'd expect it to more or less start over.

I thought Jason was great but the characters were garbage, even for a Friday film. It also tried to tell the 3 first films of the franchise all at the same time which made things feel rushed. Helps the kill count but hurt character development.

So they tried to tell the entire original series practically. They might as well have just out a machete through his head and get the 4th in there too. Lol

Lol It’s worth a watch if you like the F13 films. They took an interesting approach with Jason that is usually enjoyed. He comes across as much more of a mountain man sprinting through the woods and is particularly brutal.

Jason might’ve taken a machete to the head. I know they incorporate Mrs Voorhies very quickly, then sack head Jason does some killing, and he finds his trademark hockey mask halfway thru. The kills are good. A lot of people really like it but I still prefer most of the original series.

You don’t see him much and he’s completely mortal and averagely athletic like the originals but it’s never clear who this is. I’m not sure if that could work given the history.

It’d be structured a lot like the 5th…but you risk the same can backlash if Jason isn’t the killer. This reminds me tho…I had a conversation about the movie Prey and how cool it’d have been if they didn’t market that as a Predator film, but just a Native American tale…then out of nowhere a Predator shows up. Imagine the word of mouth that would have had.

Have people start asking themselves while they’re watching it why it seems like a Friday film, and then cue hockey mask and then the investigators I was talking about reveal the drowning backstory, etc. But either way I do think human Jason is the way to go

"Expanded Prequel" huh? So is that what we call it when continuity goes out the window?

A prequel? So it won’t feature Jason as the killer? Mrs Voorhies doing the killings in the 50s or setting fire to the camp in the 60s or whatever? I don’t really think a prequel series will be the hit they think it will. Unless they’re disregarding everything…which will also be pretty controversial and quite frankly annoying. The F13 series hasn’t felt the need to clarify continuity or timelines before and they survived for decades. The show runners shouldn’t overthink this.

You know what would be kinda great actually…if the prequel series titles Crystal Lake isn’t a horror at all. It’s just some quirky comedy about a summer camp in the 50s. Like Meatballs or Meatballs 2.
Maybe have a running gag where young deformed Jason keeps almost drowning. Like we think he’s gonna go under and nope, he’s saved by Cheryl the lifeguard. But continue to have him fumble his way into near death situations involving water. I would actually love this.
