I mean he did a fine job of introducing Ant-man and The Wasp. Both movies are good fun. Why is it that people dont like him directing Ant-man 3? I was hoping he would before it was announced.

I dont care either way and that might say it all. Ant-man is not really that popular, sure it's funny but I believe it's suffering the same way like Thor did before Ragnarok. It just needs the right movie

Well, for me it's a couple of reasons...
1) Technically and stylistically speaking, he's a very bland director. Outside of the action sequences (which are pretty good to give him credit where it's due) the two Ant Man movies are extremely simple in their direction, lacking any sort of flair or signature style. In a word, he's generic.
2) The humor, dialogue, story, and most importantly the tone, are very sitcom-ish. I think the series tragically and fatally misinterprets the B-Movie/Pulp Sci Fi influences that likely inspired Stan Lee as Reed/Marvel Studios instead opt for a mainstream "comedy" style that would usually be found in the typical Ben Stiller or Will Ferrel movie.
Edit: I should add that I do enjoy the first Ant Man. The second, however, is my least favorite MCU movie.

@raimiackbar brought up some points that should make me hate or be indifferent to those movies. And yet I genuinely enjoy them. I think they benefit from the emphasis on levity compared to other entries like the Iron Man or Captain America series.

I wasn't even aware that people disliked him. I've found the two Ant-Man films to be inoffensive fun films with some actual 'heart' to them. If the third film isn't any good, at least no one can blame it on the change of director (which seems to happen a bit with third films in comic book movie trilogies). He also directed Bring It On (2000), so I'm predisposed to like him since I enjoyed that film very much. Of course you liked it! You're ANT Mac! Good to have you here btw. Welcome! Cheers, mate. Now it remains to be seen how the next Saturday night (or Sunday morning for us) chatroom song selection will compare to last week's. I like to think that I too have various tastes in music (that one type of music you seemed to not be overly fond of in chat is something I don't like either - so we share that in common, at least). Basically you are sugar. The fast food choice of ants. That must explain why they keep showing up in my kitchen lately... One day I came home to find an army of ants all around our ceiling. It took a LOT of bug spray and vacuuming to clean that up.

I had a spider nest once on my balcony. Like 10000 little spiders crawling everywhere. Nothing a broom, soap and water will not fix. BTw we dont have lethal spiders in my country. If I was in Australia I would have set my house on fire.

Would that happen to be rap music? Spelled with a silent "C"... A guy who comes to spray for white ants every year once told me they have certain triggers... like water and sweets. After all the rain recently, I'd have to guess they're after sweets. It's not as if they're always around. They only showed up a few days ago. I expect they'll disappear again like they always do.

If I was in Australia I would have set my house on fire. Oh, there are Huntsman spiders everywhere in this area. There was at least one in nearly every room of the house when Mum and I moved into it in 1981. I used to give them pet names. They might make you feel a bit nauseous if they bite you, but they're not lethal. One winter, Mum scooped one up into an empty ice cream container and dropped it on the back step. It turned around and beat her back into the house, so she let it stay. It probably didn't like the cold weather. A couple of times, I've seen spiders big enough to have their own postcodes. I was using the computer one night, when I saw two legs hove into view in the corner of the room, where I stored my videocassettes, followed by the second biggest eight-legged bugger I've ever seen... I think it was waiting for its turn to get on the web.

I've been in more danger from a kangaroo or a snake than I've ever been from a spider. My grandma's place in outback Queensland was so old, it had a tin roof, but no ceiling. The first time I visited at the age of 2 in 1970, it didn't even have electricity. There were rainwater pipes running inside the roof. You could sit there and listen to snakes - and other creatures - chasing each other up and down them. You'd often find the half eaten remains of the losers in her garden.

Because he's a bland director who really hasn't done anything worthwhile with the two films in terms of the technical aspects of filming.
I liked Bring It On, so maybe he should go back to making cheerleader films?
