Watched episode 1 and absolutely loved it. The Nightmare on Elm Street vibes are great! I dig where all the characters are too. Most of them aren't in a comfortable place emotionally so I expect things to ramp up quick. "Vecna" as the new big bad is creepy as hell.

Season 4 been amazing so far and I cannot wait for volume 2 to be released. It's no wonder why they got Robert England to appear in this season, it's definitely influenced by Nightmare on Elm Street.

I've only seen the first episode also. I will try to finish it fairly quickly but it will probably take a couple weeks.

Watched episode 2....spoilers...again more Nightmare vibes. This villain is definitely coming across in a Freddy Kreuger type of way. I like that they brought Max, Dustin, Steve and Robin all together so quickly. I liked that they showed them all kind of growing apart to various degrees but merging several characters storyline into one helps the structure. Not sure if the California/Hopper storyline will wind up merging with the Hawkins/Vecna storyline...Im kind of fine if they stay separated for a while as I don't see an easy jump between the two. Eleven smacking that b-tch with a roller skate was satisfying.

Watched episode 3....spoilers....The way this Vecna thing has developed is awesome to me. The other two storylines...Hopper in a russian prison and Eleven drama are a bit less interesting, but still entertaining. Im actually really enjoying the gradual merging of the main characters at this point. Like episode 1 showed so many of them on their own paths, but especially the characters in Hawkins have slowly but surely all wound up scooby dooing this thing together and now Max is a target. You already killed Billy, don't hurt Mad Max! I really like that they gave the evil a voice in this season. I don't expect too many monologues but having a more sinister presence rather than a beastly one from the past few seasons is a welcome breath of fresh air. It's taking a lot of willpower not to plow through this series. I want to really enjoy it so Im trying to pace it out.

Episode 4....spoilers.....wow what a wonderful ending. I had heard this episode propped up as a great one but didn't spoil myself further than that. Max has been one of my favorite characters since she showed up in season 2 and I loved the attention she's gotten so far this season. Between her letters and that happy moment montage and running back to reality...so great. I actually thought for a second Hopper was gonna reunite with the others and come back to Hawkins. Figured theyd all merge there around the same time. But no...russian prison we go. The soldiers showing up at the Byers was unexpected. I know those guards were there for a reason but I didn't expect a big ass shootout to happen. Kind of a pleasant out of nowhere action sequence. And I got to see Robert Englund. Overall a great episode. That song and imagery for Max literally escaping her 'demons' will stick with me.

Episode 5....spoilers....Good emotion from Hopper. I just now realized the Russian guard is the actor who played Jaquen H'ghar on Game of Thrones. Awesome. Yuri and Murray are both hilarious and their fight scene was great. So it looks like they'll still be trying to break Hopper out. Not sure how they get back to Hawkins. The california team is heading to Utah to pull Suzie into the fray. Argyle is hilarious there. Theres a lot of tension around Will specifically and I feel like on the surface it reads as him being closeted but with his history it could just as easily have something to do with trauma. They've made a fuss of his painting and Im wondering what it is and if it will reveal why he's been so awkward. The Hawkins group is pretty much all together. This episode was a bit less dramatic than the previous one but there were a lot of nice character to character moments. Dustin and Steve, Steve and Nancy, Max and Lucas, Max and Nancy, Dustin and Mrs Wheeler....Mrs Wheeler by the way is a total babe. I cannot blame Billy for sliding into her DMs last season. Also Eleven gets her powers back...and Papa is alive...and probably not a total jerk. Right now Im mostly wondering if theres more to this Vecna than just him being an evil wizard from the upside down. I kind of hope so but even if there isn't this is the best villain theyve had on this show. I keep trying to pace it out and write about each episode after so that I don't lose anything in a binge...but Im constantly eager to jump back in. I think 2 episodes left this first half of the season or whatever.

Episode 6...spoilers....Really interesting trip to Suzies. Didn't expect all the kids. At first I thought it was an orphanage but it makes sense if her parents are very religious. Lot of comedic moments there, especially Argyle and Eden instantly falling in love...lol. So Eleven is in Nevada apparently...so i don't think they all have time to regroup at Hawkins before the next episode is over but I feel like the Mike group and Eleven will reunite. They keep insinuating that Eleven killed the other children but I feel like thats a bait and switch and it will be shown that she stopped whatever actually killed them. I think it was the orderly who will turn out to be One...and possibly connected to this Vecna entity. Like maybe Vecna is One who has been transformed by the upside down. Thats my running theory (vecna=one=orderly). Meanwhile Hopper prison stuff is good. They have a plan. I'm guessing Murray and Joyce show up around the same time as this Demogorgon fight...but the stage is set for both. Also meanwhile...underwater gate to the upside down...very cool. I still really like all the little character conversations we get. Although it would be cool to have had a different pairing once in a while. Its always Dustin-Steve, Nancy-Robin, Max-Lucas ever since they all joined up. I like what we get but I always appreciate seeing characters that don't normally interact having a conversation. Like imagine Robin-Dustin, Steve-Lucas, Nancy-Max chatting while walking. It could be a lot of fun. Solid episode.

Episode 7....spoilers....I am happy I was able to follow the breadcrumbs to Vecnas identity rather successfully. This is a perfect example of a revelation being sufficiently hinted at and satisfying without being an out of left field surprise just for the sake of subverting expectations. Not that it matters but I also suspected Victor Creels son might also be in my (vecna=one=orderly) equation because I couldn't figure out another link to the rest of the plot...but I thought they showed him dead in the flashbacks so i took him out. This was literally me during the Vecna reveal... ...but back to the show as a whole...I am in love with this season. It's hitting all new highs for me. The pacing, new characters, old characters, humor, action, horror elements, suspense, musical choices....its all just working for me. I could watch a dozen more episodes of this season. We'll get two in july, I guess that'll do. The main Hawkins plot is the most interesting for me...and now Nancy is in the crosshairs. Its fitting that Nancy is a target of a character modeled after Freddy Kreuger. I don't want to lose Nancy but since Max was spared I worried they'd have to drop someone main, just to make it real. I'm worried it'll be Steve in lieu of Nancy. His character is so much about protection that it'd be a heroic end to a character that started off kinda douchey. I feel like theres so much to say here but my fingers already hurt. I guess if I had one gripe its that Mike, Will and Jonathan feel like theyre on the backburner this season. I'm ok with that since it means more development for a character like Max or the new characters introduced...but Im expecting something big from them in those 2 July episodes. End spoilers... If you don't watch this show you should.

Season 4 is by far the best season of Stranger Things. And its not close either.

Yeah season 4 was amazing. The only thing that has rivaled Stranger Things in terms of quality is The Boys.
Disney and WB should start taking notes. Maybe the Star Wars, Marvel and DC shows could end up being as good or better in terms of quality.

Just watched Episode 8 - Papa - This show continues to do so many things right. Wills heart to heart with Mike, the escalation of the Vecna problem from serial killer to impending doom, the pairing of conversations when the Hawkins group is preparing...absolutely love seeing these interactions. It just adds so much more to the character depth as well as really making me feel like this is gonna end badly for a few of them. All of the Papa and Eleven stuff was so good this episode and that final moment between them where Papa is looking for understanding and Eleven despite being conflicted, realizes she's just done with him is both emotional and satisfying. As was the reunion of Mike and Eleven and Will and Eleven. Oh and the helicopter moment was awesome. The Separate Ways beat creeping in during the final sequence where the group is heading to the Creel house...*chefs kiss* This season and this show right now is some of the most entertaining tv Ive had in a while. I told myself Id wait to watch the last episode but Im probably gonna start it now because I don't want anything to be spoiled tomorrow. Ive already had to avoid youtube and twitter after some thumbnails and pics were a little too close for comfort.

Season finale...Loved the way the different groups storylines all lined up together. El being able to assist from across the country made sense and her hero entrance was amazing. Eddie and Dustin using Metallica to distract the upside down bats was the most metal thing ever. Vecna being so formidable and being revealed as the mind flayer was really cool and kind of brings so much of this seemingly random story together for all 4 seasons. I was satisfied in a sad way about Eddies sacrifice. I thought it made sense but was also expected. Max's situation I'm less happy about. Mainly because I feel like we just spent so much time pulling for her and watching her successfully come back from depression and Vecna back in episode 4 and now in the same season she's basically left brain dead, is what Im understanding. Hopefully destroying Vecna will return her consciousness to her body as I assume that's where she is. But that kind of means she won't be an active player in season 5 and I really don't like that either. I love where this puts everything tho. Assuming there will be one more season to end it all I like that the table is already set so they can come in guns blazing right away. I loved all the reunions these last 2 episodes too and really enjoy the writing with Will's scenes. It's always saying so much without actually saying it and I kind of enjoy that.

They mention Alien 3 but not Alien Resurrection. My first thought when Hopper and Joyce were going through the demigorgon test tube room was Alien Resurrection when Ripley is walking through the room with her clones, which also has Winona Ryder. I also think Ripley had the number 8 tattooed on her arm in that as she was the 8th clone and the first one that worked. Also the sword Hopper uses in the finale is very similar to the one in Conan the Barbarian. Lucas is reading to Max the novel The Talisman written by Peter Straub and Stephen King in a dual project. Its a story about a young boy who saves his mothers life by traveling across country and flipping into this other dimension that is a strange fantasy version of America called 'The Territories' in order to acquire this magical talisman that is supposed to heal her. It's a pretty good read. I prefer the sequel but it's fitting considering the context of his situation with Max.

Re: The Vecna=Daddy theory....I kind of hope not. I don't really think it adds anything that isn't already there. Eleven struggled to break free of Papas influence and did so this season. Hopper is her father figure. So having Vecna revealed as her actual father creates no more conflict than was already there. It would just feel like a cheap soap opera move to me. It would feel as significant as <Game of thrones spoilers> Jon Snow being a Targaryen. It didn't amount to anything. He didn't want it and being true heir to the throne had long lost its power by the time it became a factor.

Stranger Things won 3 2022 People's Choice Awards. Its one of my favorite tv shows Ive watched this year but often I find myself forgetting about it because it wasn't a weekly release. So the longevity didn't remain in my memory. But I love the show.
