I give episode 1 like a 5/10. I was honestly kind of bored with it. I know they have to set the position of Obiwan as a person who is witnessing all this injustice left and right and not interfering...but I kind of wish theyd have done it in a more interesting way for me. The inquisitors as a whole were fun but I wasn't a huge Reva fan right out of the gate. It took both episodes before she started to grow on me. I liked the actress playing Leia but didn't realize how much Leia we were gonna get in this series so it kind of surprised me.
Episode 2 was better. Prob a 7/10. I liked Reva a lot more here but I still don't really appreciate her over the top bullying personality. It just comes across as corny to me more than intimidating. But when she's actually trying to be sinister like when shes searching for Obiwan in the loading dock, it comes across well. I also definitely think she's one of the kids from the beginning. There is a little black girl among the 5 padawans who ran away and I'm fully convinced that is her. I liked a lot of the dialog between Ben and Leia. It had layers for us knowing the history. The fake jedi character is great, really hope he comes back later.
Overall its an ok start but I'm not as interested as I felt diving into Mandalorian and Boba Fett. Tho that is a high bar to reach and I'm not sure I expected this to meet that. But its impossible not to compare them.

Its like we have the same mind Merv Im listening to it now lol. Same page I think. Also, i thought it was the jedi that stopped the knife in the first episode, not the Grand Inquisitor. But I could be wrong. I thought that was how they got him to show himself. I might have to rewatch that scene.

Been thinking...could just be an unimportant coincidence, but I wonder if the Third Sister Reva will draw any parallels from Darth Revan of the KOTOR games. Obviously in those games we kind of controlled Revans destiny, but Revan is canonically a former Jedi who became a Dark Lord of the Sith and developed amnesia and was again retrained as a Jedi to confront the very evil he formed. I could see the ambitious Reva being as much a threat to the Empire as she is to the Jedi/Resistance.

Caught Ep1&2 finally last night. The first I was really into Bens new life and then the appearance of the Inquisitors. I like them. A lot. They’re menacing. It greatly surprised me with Leah’s appearance and importance. I wasn’t sure how into that I was but then the 2nd so is awesome for it. It’s a twisting turning spy mission turned action piece through dark allows of a futuristic city. Reminded me of Dark City a little bit. Maybe Blade Runner. Those aren’t perfect examples but maybe you get the idea. When the woman finally catches up to Ben and he’s trying not to reveal himself. Teasing that showdown without ultimately giving it but not knowing if it was going to go down right then was great I thought. Very good ep. I just hope his camelhorsething is getting chunks of dragonsnailthing meat while he’s gone

It was only after talking with Max that I realized the female inquisitor was one of the Jedi kids from the opening scene. I had wondered why that was in there but after finishing eps 1&2 hadn’t thought about it any more.

Great third episode. I thought the Obiwan-Darth stuff was handled very well. It really presented Vader as having grown with his power while Obiwan struggles since he spent years suppressing it. It kind of creates an arc in my head of Obiwan realizing he'll have to face Vader again down the road and spends the next 10 years centering himself so that when he faces him in New Hope he's totally confident. I really enjoyed how they showed normal people could be pro-Empire as well. It's not just an umbrella of evil suppressing everything in the galaxy but to some its order and a job to do. A proper midseason finale.

Ok. Finally say ep 4. Just call me Jayman. I’m that behind ;-)
Loving this show. It’s snaking around the backstory in a style from Mandalorian to Rogue One with intriguing personal moments and history to intense moments and brutal action.
Vader burning Obi!? WOW. The Underground Railroad. Brilliantly necessary. An inside woman, Leah history I never new I wanted, and an understanding of how Obi faded in power. I love all of this.
Breaking into that prison was epic and Tala’s moments of talking her way in, stealthily fighting her way out of getting caught, and then talking her way around 3rd Sister, all under pressure was great stuff. Obi holding the glass, Leah holding her own (and btw having this backstory with Leah has really grown on me. Knowing this is why she trusts Obi so much. Bravo) And then Vader shows up. Now this is big for me not because it’s Vader, but I’ve recently played a series of short games called Vader immortal, and it’s the idea of having these side stories about what else Vader was up to. I’m very curious how Obi manages to get away in a manner that he’s not continuously chased for the next ten years.

Then again Alderaan was eventually blown up as I was telling a friend

WOW!!! This show. This show is easily top tier Star Wars and it’s hitting Rogue One levels of perfect combinations of character, action, and classic Star Wars vibes. I had no idea I cared this much about the Obi and Anakin relationship. I had no idea 3rd sister would be this intriguing. Didn’t see that who’s fighting for who twist coming and didn’t see the Vader knew what was up the whole time follow up coming either. The flashbacks to their training providing context to their strategy was inspired. Leah playing a role, Tala and the droids sacrifice, and Obi’s leadership. It’s just all so good.

Totally agree for the most part. Cant say Im a big fan of Reva tbh Yeah this was definitely in line with top tier Mandalorian, if not better. Anakin and Vader certainly brought it

The biggest surprise for me is 1) that Vader was going to be as prominent in this series as he is. I had assumed the antagonists would mostly be the Inquisitors with Vader maybe making a cameo near the end. And 2) That I didn't know I wanted to see the bridge in the relationship between Anakin and Obiwan during the time between Revenge of the Sith and New Hope. It seems obvious now that displaying Kenobis ptsd and regrets along with Vaders rage and terror would be a great story to tell, even if it is a somewhat short one, all things considered. The moments in episode 5 where Vader stops the ship, and then fights Reva....Im thinking will be some of my most remembered Vader moments ever. He's such a force of nature at that time.

Yeah after watching the podcast I will add a bit more:
As for leaving Reva alive, it is clear Vader doesnt see Reva as a threat. Also it was mentioned they were playing her from the beginning, Vader knew she was the youngling. Obviously she's no physical threat, she was manipulated and The Empire is in charge of the galaxy. I was also thinking maybe they left her alive intentionally so they can watch and follow her? Further, Vader/Anakin can be arrogant/cocky at times
I do agree it was a bit awkward with how Obi-Wan and Reva came to talk about Vader.
Now, as for the decoy getting away. It couldve been simply that Vader already used so much focus and power just to hold that ship. Also sometimes people react too slow too-it happens
Yes, it was silly that Reva just chose to try and take Vader in that manner. Obi-Wan did try to tell her she couldnt take him down alone. It lines up so it doesnt really bother me. Her vengeance blinded her, too sure of herself

I love Reva coming to her senses. I'm here for that kind of character moment of introspection. I am officially ready for the Reva spinoff.

Wow. I’ll have more to say, but Obi really is the challenge Vader could never live up too. This all makes hearing that recording of Leah’s in another 10 years take on an even richer context.

My first thought was actually that this is must watch Star Wars. It’s on the level of Rogue One, excellently weaving in a back story you knew was there but never knew how well it adds to the lore.
