Our current selection
Goalkeepers Justin Bijlow Ofir Marciano Thijs Janssen
Defenders Lutsharel Geertruida Marcus Holmgren Pedersen Denzel Hall Gernot Trauner Marcos Senesi Ramon Hendriks Phillipe Sandler Tyrell Malacia
Midfielders Fredrik Aursnes Okrun Kokcu Jens Toornstra Cole Bassett Jorrit Hendrix Lennard Hartjes Antoni Milambo
Attackers Alireza Jahanbakhsh Patrik Walemark Bryan Linssen Luis Sinisterra
Cyriel Dessers, Reiss Nelson and Guus Til were also in the squad but were loaned out and will return to their clubs Racing Genk, Arsenal and Spartak Moscow.
Apparantly we may sign Dessers permanantly if we can make a deal with him. Reiss Nelson has one year left on his contract at Arsenal and they will be looking to sell him. We cannot afford him both in transfer fee and wage. Guus Til doesnt want to return to Russia for obvious reasons. We would like to keep him but its depending on Spartak, FIFA and the Dutch Government.

I can’t imagine him leaving for a less prominent team. Any ideas? For now he is going back to his actual club, Racing Genk in Belgium. But he is being chased by several clubs around Europe. Maybe a club in Germany or France.

I was just checking transfers for Man City and went over to Feyenoord. They have a bunch of guys both returning and leaving from loans. Any that you think are significant?

Well the players leaving are too expensive to buy or we need to be lucky. Dessers leaving is final. Til we want to keep but it all depends what Spartak Moscow wants or needs to do and even if we could afford getting him its still business with Russia so the govenrment will have something to say about that as well. FIFA may step in and release all foreign players out of their Russian contracts but thats unlikely. Nelson has one year left on his contract with Arsenal. So they dont want to loan him out again unless he extends. But why would he extend at Arsenal just to be loaned out again? He will probably want to leave on a permanent deal either this summer or on a free transfer next summer. So thats unlikely too. The players coming back are considered not good enough (yet). The young players like Azarkan, Conteh and Bannis may get a chance but if Im honest they will not make it. Older players like Diemers and Bozenik should really be sold this summer.

So at this point they’re definitely in a position where they need to buy a player or two at Dessers level to come in and improve the team. I wish I could make an educated guess as to what their prospects are and how likely it is to improve from here

He has a not so secret source that is on the board. He expects there will be action after the international weeks. Thats in about ten days. Rumor is they are looking at a striker from Uruguay called Borbas. www.transfermarkt.nl/thiago-borbas/profil/spieler/743951

Another player leaving. For one year out on loan. However Utrecht can buy him for a fixed fee. But when that happens Feyenoord will have a fixed fee for which they can buy him back if he gets really good. Another left footed defender leaving. We really need new players there.

I can’t tell you how closely I’m watching the transfer window. Largely EPL, but aim keeping an eye out for you guys. Ajax lost a guy or two I saw.

New player. A young Dutch central defender. Mats Wieffer. Any thoughts on this guy? I saw he had Eredivisie experience with 3 teams and in Rotterdam. Not a ton of goals, but I’m assuming a solid midfielder. You expect him to start?

He is more of a box to box midfielder who is excellent in pressing the opponent. Conquers the ball more than he will score. Wil need to improve. He comes from a smaller club who just promoted to the Eredivisie.

Wilfried Gnonto, one of the biggest talents in Europe, apparently already has a personal agreement with Feyenoord. If the clubs can strike a deal he will join us. And according to trustworthy sources.... A done deal is not far off. The player is already in Rotterdam pending the agreement and his medical.
