the consolidation begins My prediction with all of these streaming services was that some would lose, and those that did would be acquired by the ones who won. I think we might now be playing the waiting game to see who buys the Netflix assets. Unless they have a trump card to play.

Then HBO and Paramount join and double. Pretty soon our streaming services will feature 152 channels and cost 200 bucks a month.

To be fair, the stock is significant but not the subscriber loss. 200,000 isnt much compared to how many they have overall

A friend of mine recently canceled his subscription. He's been a subscriber since their DVD only days. He said they did nothing to retain him. No discount, no free months… nothing… they just said goodbye.

Otherwise it could snowball if they dont address it seriously

Otherwise it could snowball if they dont address it seriously It's not just the amount of people they will lose, it is also the speed at which they will lose them. 3 months is a short time to lose 2M subs. If the loses continue at this pace, they will lose $150M per year in revenue. That can add up.

is this a protest over something or is that it just sucks and people realized it all at once?

So why are they losing customers? I dont watch Netflix is this a protest over something or is that it just sucks and people realized it all at once? Netflix' businessmodel is flawed. They produce new content to up subs because everybody is talking about the new must watch show. They forget that people want to that show continue into new seasons and wrap up in a good way. Netflix usually cancels a show after its third season on a cliffhanger. They dont care about the product. They care about money.

I'm looking sideways at the business sense of preemptively announcing that they will lose 2 million subs. It feels like they almost want it to happen. Is this the path to bankrupcy?
The lack of attempting to put this fire out or put their stockholders at ease is suspicious to me.
