On Amazon Prime. If you enjoy the modern western aesthetic but think grounded material is too boring for you, try this out. Josh Brolin stars as a cattle rancher in wyoming who finds a giant hole to nowhere in his west pasture one day. He then proceeds to throw rocks and dirt and all kinds of stuff in there. All the while dealing with typical rancher problems like missing cattle and encroaching neighbors. The show is very interesting so far and within minutes I had about a million questions and after 2 episodes I have about 2 million more. Very cool show so far.

Mild spoiler...you see whats on the other side of the hole in episode 2...although theres still tons of question marks around it.

Could anyone figure what this was about? The big hole reminded me of the ones in La Brea and act similarly. Is there supposed to be another season?

Watched episode 3 and without spoiling...this feels like a show im going to be frustrated with already due to peoples lack of communication. Why does everyone always need to keep these massive secrets? Just spill the beans to a few people and see what happens. Stop trying to solve every mystery yourself!!!

Up to episode 6....Clearly this is one of those shows that presents far more questions than answers and has its characters reacting unpredictably and making the decisions that will lead to the most problems later. I like it...although Im not sure if Id like it more if it didn't have the weirdness to it or less. The drama around the murder is kind of more interesting to me at this point than the hole through space time. But that's more because i can wrap my head around that plot line. I like the acting from most of the main characters. I just don't have the slightest idea what this all means yet. The Autumn character says things are getting clearer and I hope that was a meta way of talking to me as a viewer about the plot of this show.

Finished the first season...spoilers below.
The last two episodes really brought this series back for me. I was struggling in the middle episodes to find a reason to keep watching as the show just kept adding more and more random character actions, events, and plot threads to clutter up the already confusing narrative. But with the few revelations...
One, that the material all over the land is in fact time in some way and can present visions to people as well as transport them seemingly randomly throughout since Royal goes a few years into the future, Trevor (the corpse) goes 4 days into the future, but Sheriff Joy goes over a hundred years into the past. Dont know if theres a rhyme or reason to it but that's what Im gathering...the black rock stuff is basically time in a solid tangible form.
Two, that Royal is actually from the 1800s. I suspected Royal came crawling out of the time hole at some point in the past because they mention that he just came running across the field one day at the age of 9 or whatever and had no idea what happened to his parents and the Abbotts took him in. I didn't know where in time he was from but I expected that twist. That also kind of explains why he's so quiet and kept the hole a secret from everyone...but also not really, because why wouldn't you trust your wife or kids with that? But thats less a plot hole than a character flaw.
Three, Autumn is Amy...and she also traversed through time, obviously. Last we see of Amy is her being abducted by her mother...and its revealed that she has the same scar that Amy has...and at least to Royals assumption and to us the viewer, they are the same person. I expected this as well except I expected Autumn to know who she was. From the moment she came walking up the road to the Abbott ranch I thought this might be her twist. Now what shes doing there and what happened to her to cause her brain to scramble I have no idea. Also her and Billy having a kind of weird witchy connection where they break down in song and dance as theyre being kicked out of the bank or hypnotically walking toward the hole together. I dont know what all thats about and its kind of weird but at least its interesting. The Autumn character is my highlight from this season.
Overall...a weird ass tv show that I kind of liken to John From Cincinnati, except in JFC we got almost no answers about anything by seasons end and I fully expected cancellation. This show I may check out further...until they go totally bonkers with it.
