I remember doing this years ago on old imdb where you choose from the probably hundreds of X-Men to form the team you'd choose.
It was fun back then...and since I rewatched a few episodes of the old 90s Xmen TAS I started thinking about it again.

Angel, Dazzler, Beast and Jubilee. All you need lol Classic Angel or Archangel? And Beast is a core part of any good XMen team. He’s brains and brawn.

I dunno. Based on their skills and strengths I'm tempted to say Professor X, Cyclops, 2 Rogues, and 5 Wolverines should do the trick.
Will have to give more serious thought!

Call it nostalgia but the animated 90's series was the total package for me. The team seemed incomplete with even one of them missing. There was no X-Men without all of them. Even the number of them seemed fitting.
I like the idea of Dazzler, though, but I wouldn't toss any of them out. They all bring out some necessary to someone else. Jubilee brings out a lot of their paternal instincts. Depending on who's in the room, Professor X is a mentor, trainer or father.
They all have cool yin yang relationships with their powers too. Wolverine is a tortured soul whose power is healing; Rogue is a charming, affectionate southern Belle who can't touch, Beast is a scientist, poet and gentle-ass walking almanac who looks like a beast.
I think I'd keep the team as it was in the 90's animated series, but add Dazzler. I could see adding Nightcrawler just because of the Sega Genesis game.

Yea the 90s cartoon had a pretty solid lineup for both strength and personalities.

Overall? TBH I don’t know every character like the back of my hand but I do enjoy and loved playing the old Xmen games like Apocalypse with Ice Man Gene Storm Cyclops And Gambit You could run through and mow people down with projectiles, blasts, and AOE everywhere. Plus I love all these characters

Use the ones that we haven’t seen much of: Angel, Ice Man, Cyclops
Avoid the ones we’ve seen a lot of: Jean, Beast, Xavier, Storm
