Fuck yes!!! This is how you bring a middle aged man back to his childhood.
This was the most 80's movie made this century. Loved it.

Broke the box office record for Memorial Day weekend. Well deserved. Also best opening weekend for a Tom Cruise led film. Highest opening weekend for a non CBM/Disney film in 4 years I swear its better than the original.

Studio behind Tom Cruise blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick sued over copyright linkFamily of Ehud Yonay, author of source material for the 1986 blockbuster starring Tom Cruise, launch legal action against hit sequel The family of the author whose article inspired the 1986 Tom Cruise movie Top Gun on Monday sued Paramount Pictures for copyright infringement over this year’s blockbuster sequel Top Gun: Maverick. According to a complaint filed in Los Angeles federal court, the Paramount Global unit failed to reacquire the rights to Ehud Yonay’s 1983 article “Top Guns”, which appeared in a 1983 issue of California magazine, from his family before releasing the “derivative” sequel. Shosh Yonay and Yuval Yonay, who live in Israel and are respectively Ehud’s widow and son, said Paramount deliberately ignored that the copyright reverted to them in January 2020, “thumbing its nose” at federal copyright law. Paramount did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages, including some profits from Top Gun: Maverick, and to block Paramount from distributing the movie or further sequels. Top Gun: Maverick is this year’s biggest box office hit, generating $291m (£232m) in North America and $548.6m (£438m) globally in its first 10 days of release. According to Deadline, a spokesperson for Paramount responded by saying: “These claims are without merit, and we will defend ourselves vigorously.”

Top Gun Maverick just became only the second movie in history to make over $40 million dollars domestic in it's 4th weekend. The only other movie to do this was Avatar. This movie really is a phenomenon.

I still need to see the first one Finally watched it lol. Pretty decent if somewhat cliched Top Gun 2 AKA Maverick So Ive finally seen this now. It's one of the best movie sequels ever, period. As soon as I saw Maverick test that plane and the cinematography accompanying, I just knew in my gut I was in for something special. That feeling was right. Had a total blast! 9/10 Sure there was nostalgia bait-for me about a single month but they did it right and not too much. It was very much its own story-cant say the same for The Force Awakens. Penny was oh so sexy in this movie-great woman and her personality shines in this film, props to Connelly. Although I will admit, it was rather convenient she was at that bar lol. Oh and the action was insane! If you havent seen it, do it! You will at least get the thrills with all the fighter jets on display, the way they move, the sound and the way they shoot! I mean if you liked Nolan's Dunkirk and its dogfight you will love this motion picture Let's make this thread a 2-pager. It deserves it. WOW!

I had been keeping an eye on Joseph Kosinski’s career for a while. I thought Tron: Legacy was just okay but he is one of those directors who has improved with each new movie since. And it’s finally paid off for him. I would love for him to tackle other franchises whether a superhero movie or hell, Star Wars.

On the plus side I saw this today too and yeahhhh it’s as good as advertised. I was nostalgic and on the edge of my seat multiple times. The kind of sequel where anything could happen. And plus they had my girl, Jennifer Connolly
