I'm surprised that this wasn't brought up by many people, but the writers of this show been taking stuff from Mass Effect and putting it in this show. Master Chief and the beacon is straight out of Mass Effect 1 with Commander Shepherd and the Eden Prime beacon. All sci-fi narratives borrow from each other because the tropes themselves are limited. This TV show bears a resemblance to Nevin’s Ring World. There’s some Heinlein’s Starship Troopers using plot #1 the Hero’s Quest of Self Discovery in the Cosmic struggle. The mysterious ancient civilization with the magical artifacts comes from Pohl’s Heechee saga.

I'm just not getting it… The show is so radically different from the game lore that it feels like an almost entirely different property. Halo has always been more about world-building than character development. Games depend on being immersive. Now that we're seeing a show that focuses on developing the characters in the Halo universe, I'm finding myself strangely confused and alienated. Creating great characters with depth and nuance is what a TV show should do, but in this case, somehow, it feels wrong and weird. I don't know… I'm not all that interested in the Chief's sex life. The Halo universe of the TV show doesn't feel nearly as expansive as the game, and the characters, outside of Kwan, are shallow caricatures. I find it hard to follow the narrative and the overarching conflict because of the odd side quests. The actress playing Kwan is putting in her best effort, but she's being written as a belligerent and somewhat entitled brat. She's unpleasant to listen to, like a whiney sibling who won't let go of some petty argument you forgot about centuries ago. "I gotta save my people… Ahk, Ahk, Ahk…!! I gotta save my people… Ahk, Ahk, Ahk…!! It's one thing to have a purpose and a quest, but it's another thing to feel like the entire universe should be helping you fulfill it. Still, again, I do have to acknowledge how hard Yerin Ha is working. The show has become a popular punching bag amongst YouTubers like Angry Joe. They're all picking on it because Paramount is so extreme with rights management. They don't believe in fair use in any context. They're killing organic opportunities for the fandom to rally around the show, making me hate the show a little more with each episode. They do the same thing with Star Trek. Not in my case. It’s a good, existential sci-fi show. I like Soren’s wife’s comment to Kwan, “revenge and justice are often confused.” So is the state of our present, collective circumstance. Reading these comments from gamers, I feel like I’ve intruded on some sacred ground. Im glad theres another fan of the show. Huzzah! I have no real knowledge either of the games. I will definitely be tuning in for season 2, thats if there is another one Latest news is that the "creator" or a key contributor at any rate isnt a fan of the series

If they are doing Fall of Reach, hopefully they'll do it justice.
The Battle of Reach was one of the most bloodiest and violent battles in the Human-Covenant war, hopefully the writer are up to the task to it.

I guess Blondie is really dead then. Figured she would be important down the line in some way. Unless.. This is also coming from someone that has no clue about the Halo franchise though lol

This is also coming from someone that has no clue about the Halo franchise though lol I haven't followed Halo lore since Microsoft and 343 Industries took over the franchise. Their additions to the canon were just plain dumb. The story of the TV show doesn't make much sense to me either, so I only watch it to see how they adapt some aspects from the early games. It's more out of morbid curiosity than anything else. I'm not invested in what happens on the TV show in any way.

One or two of the performances are okay from time to time…

Why does she look like she's going to call everyone a slur while demanding to speak to the manager?
