We used ponder this back in 2012, a lot, do they reboot after Thanos? Do they start recasting and go forever?
Well they haven’t done either and are clearly piling forth with new characters and new roles for veterans. And they’re only getting bigger as if they’ve just gotten started.
So at this point, 14 years after the start of all this, 10 years after Avengers, and as big as it’s ever been, can you see any horizon in the far distance anywhere when they make an attempt to wrap up the MCU, and how does that go down? And if not, what is the distant future like?

I think they will continue for a while. At least another 10 years or so. They just got the Fox characters back and they havent even begun to play with them. I can see them get the Hulk rights back at a certain moment as well. Only Spider-man I dont see coming back but they have that deal with Sony. There are still so many stories to tell.
A reboot may happen in time but not in the near future

I was just talking to politicidal, and yeah 20 more years really isn’t as insane as it might sound with any other franchise. With all of the material they’ve yet to touch or only barely scratched the surface of, they’ve got gas in the tank. I just wanted to ask again for the first time in awhile, what then? I guess it’s still impossible to guess.

It’s all about quality. Unfortunately things happen that alter even the best long running series, regardless of the medium. It’s hard to see every movie in the MCU going from good to crap any time soon- at worst it may become a mixed bag. But you never know. The same creative team and studio that made Lord of the Rings went on to make The Hobbit trilogy! Who could’ve seen that coming!

Yes. It is written by scribes from the furthest reaches of the internet on the most remote forums: Once they successfully reboot X-MEN, they get too bold and reboot the Fantastic Four. And it fails. The cinema gods will retaliate at this great offense and purge the MCU from existence. Thus paving the way for the Great Reboot of 2028.

It would be really cool to see an expansive universe evolve over a few decades. Even if that means not having a Tony Stark Iron Man again for a while. Let the mantles be passed down or bring different characters in. We all know the Avengers roster is like 100 deep…and once they get their XMen beak wet they won’t have any shortage of characters or storylines to build from. At this point I’d like to see how long this apple cart rides.

I mean we’re working on 15 years which extremely rare for anything, Nevermind this level of continuity, and this expansive. I love how we’re all like, another 15? Suuuuuure.

Yeah the MCU is here to stay. It's good that Chapek is no longer in charge but that remains to be seen how that lady will do. Some are thinking that Iger might come back too.
Actually Ill change MCU to Marvel. Marvel is here to stay. I imagine it going like James Bond at the absolute worst case scenario but instead of one movie every few years, a movie annually
It's hard to say. Feige might want to move on. As much as he loves all things Marvel, he might want a new challenge. What's better than being a King? Being a leader of a new, other kingdom (remember that Star Wars movie)? Or being in charge of two franchises? Starting his own company? Maybe being in charge of the movie division at another company? Retiring?
He will leave at some point. So thats why I say Marvel because the new guy may want to make his own mark, reboot and call it something else ie not the MCU
Also the MCU is becoming more and more political-thats something to consider too

I am so shocked about chapek. Iger must be embarrassed he appointed him. I’ve never seen anybody just bomb at that job. Kevin could certainly leave. I don’t know how much satisfaction he gets out of it. If it’s still a mission for him, maybe he keeps running. If someone new reboots it for an ego trip though that’s crazy. You keep that engine running. Lol I could see them scaling back perhaps. If it starts to taper off in popularity, even if they’re still good, and just running one film a year or something. That’s very possible

They've been graphed onto Disney for the foreseeable future, so it can go on for another 10 years at least.
