Welcome back Matt!!!
I’m starting with episode 1 tonight and yeahhhh this is as awesome as I remember. Underground MCU. On the streets away from the big guns. Under the radar. This is awesome!!!
And the fact that that Marvel has been building this larger street level world long before Disney + is immensely satisfying.

I wouldve been just fine if it was just one season, looking back at it. Although we wouldntve gotten the awesome Punisher. You could just tell this was going to be insane from the opening credits

My unpopular opinions:I actually liked Season 2 of Daredevil better than Season 1 (mainly because of Elktra). I also liked Season 1 of Jessica Jones better than both seasons of Daredevil (Season 3 was never released here on DVD/Blu-ray, and neither were Seasons 2 & 3 of JJ, Season 2 of Iron Fist or any seasons of The Punisher). So there.

I love all the Netflix shows. But I stopped watching them since they were cancelled.

An extremely popular show inexplicably cancelled after only three seasons. Yup, that’s Netflix! 😂😂😂😂

An extremely popular show inexplicably cancelled after only three seasons. Yup, that’s Netflix! 😂😂😂😂 I confess I don’t know the details. I had the idea that this wasn’t like Sony owning Spidey. I thought Netflix was more renting the defenders, especially since Marvel had just gone to the trouble of getting all of their characters back, it didn’t seem like they’d just give some big names away. So I’m wondering if Disney wanted them back and just said they weren’t counting to continue the lease?

When it became apparent that Disney had intentions of creating their own streaming service, Netflix saw which way the wind was blowing and decided to cancel the Marvel Netflix shows. Why invest time and money in characters you don't fully control? With Disney+ on the way, Disney was likely not renewing any Marvel/Netflix character show deals, so the decision to cancel was easy for Netflix leadership. No need to wait until Disney actually pulled the plug. It was a good business move as the money previously used to produce the Marvel/Netflix shows likely went into original programming for Netflix to make them more competitive in the streaming wars. It certainly sucked for the fans, though.

It certainly sucked for the fans, though. This is more or less what I thought had happened. I felt confident Disney retained control to a large degree. And that’s why I’m so glad to see Daredevil and Kingpin back. It alleviates a lot of that “awwww that sucks” feeling. I can know Luke and JJ and Iron Fist are out there, and I’m hoping it means we get to see them again later as well. I know these actors were banking on that a little too

But… has Netflix ever let one of their shows go past season 4? How many shows make it past season two on there, even when popular? Honestly, it’s just a shitty service with a shitty business plan and no interest in investing in quality shows. Disposable content is their model. How the “service” remains so popular is beyond me.

Not saying you are wrong because you are not. Netflix businessplan is to attract new members. They claim, and I dont think they are wrong, that new shows attract more new members than new seasons of already running shows. People will join up to watch a new hype but lack the patience to catch up on old hypes. They arent in it for the content, they are in it for the money. A real American way of looking at things.

What I don’t understand is why members stick with it knowing the shows they enjoy get cancelled in (or before) their prime.

The new shows never convince me to watch them, but I’m a very limited TV guy anyway. I get one thing and I’ll stick with it or a lot of it anyway. I’ve tried convincing my wife to cancel it a few times now. I was just thinking might have to put more weight on that.

I know so many people who just hang on to it without really watching, neglecting to cancel. I bet it’s half their customers.

I’d like to see a stat breakdown of $$$/hour of viewing and how many people are paying for basically nothing.
