It would be kind of funny if they wound up doing that Serpent Society film. I'm sort of rooting for it just for that Civil War switcheroo announcement, but whatever they do, I love the Captain America series and can't wait. I hope he gets at least a couple of films.

Yes, this is excellent news! Mackie has earned a starring role in an MCU cinematic outing. Damn right!

I am truly excited to see what they end up doing with this film. I am totally stoked about Sam Wilson being Captain America and I think Anthony Mackie is getting his due for the right reasons. As long as they dont try to get to woke with the shit and they stick with the roots of the original Captain America films with action and espionage and a great story it should be awesome.

God, I hope they redo the new, eye-pain Captain America costume that looks like the top of his head is missing.

I think Evans can easily play the psychotic version of his beloved character. This is owed to us fans who thought we were getting this storyline in Captain America 2. I'd love to see cap going about his merry way and then, out of nowhere he just straight up murders somebody.

I'm happy with the last time we saw Steve was his happy ending with Peggy. I don't need them to 'taint' that by bringing him back to play a bad version of himself. And that bit about just out of nowhere stabbing someone sounds like how DC would portray Steve. {Spoiler}I'm there for it for a number of reasons. This is one of my favorite Captain America stories. If they want to have superheroes vs their bad selves...do it with someone else. Leave our last image of Steve be him having his happy ending.

Comic book readers typically enjoy seeing darker versions of the characters they like. I understand that it's repetitive in the MCU at this point, but I don't consider John Walker to be a darker alternative to Captain America. He was more like someone trying desperately to live up to a legend and failed, whereas Sam had the same journey and succeeded.
A true dark Captain America would look at the darker underbelly of what the symbol represents.
A clone of the original Captain America would be a logical step in the weapon plus program after attempting to replicate the process with "undesirables" like Isaiah Bradley.
This would be more of a biological machine than a man, and I could see that device being used to create a good henchman. If it sacrifices itself the way Steve did at the end of the war, I could see it working.

*sigh* Eh not sure how I'd feel about it. If it's done well, that's one thing. But I'd kind of rather see a new villain introduced. If this is really the case then I can see that pissing a lot of people off.

If this is really the case then I can see that pissing a lot of people off. I was thinking this movie would be a perfect opportunity for a classic villain to return. We haven’t seen the Red Skull since the first movie. I really want this installment to be a little more over the top as opposed to strictly grounded. I don’t need this film to be the Logan of the franchise (despite the recent story development).

Maybe we'll see Zemo or Strucker again? Zemo seems possible. I'd like to see him lead the Thunderbolts at some point.

Chris Evans on a potential return: "That seems to be something people would like to see. I don't want to disappoint anybody, but it's tough to... It was such a good run and I'm so happy with it. It's so precious to me. It would have to be perfect. It would just be scary to rattle something that is, again, so dear to me. That role means so much to me. So, to revisit it, it would be a tall order." movieweb.com/chris-evans-isnt-closing-the-door-on-potential-return-as-captain-america/

Interesting choice for the director. LUCE was a really good movie. Cloverfield Paradox? Not so much...
