I’m not sure if this ever got discussed at length here, but I absolutely love this theory. There are slightly different variations but in general it ties together the locations we find the Infinity Stones, the details of why Hela was banished, and Odin’s possession of a replica gauntlet.
So long ago, Odin expanded into the Nine Realms seeking the Infinity Stones to increase his power. This curiosity began with his knowledge that Borr had hidden the Aether, and his inability to find it drove him to seek out the others. He came to possess several of them, including the Space and Power Stones and even began to craft a gauntlet to contain them. We know that the Time Stone was always on Earth, and it’s unclear if he ever had the Mind Stone, but when he went seeking the Soul Stone everything changed. Up until that point his quest had led Hela to become a ferocious killer at the head of his armies, but when faced with the choice to sacrifice her for the Soul Stone, he realized he had been wrong. He gave up his quest and removed temptation. The Tesseract was left on Earth, the Power Stone was placed in the Orb and gifted to Morag, and Hela, who would not agree to this was banished. Odin placed the Gauntlet he had commissioned in his Vault to never forget, and resigned himself to fighting only to secure peace.
I think this is such a good fit I actually accept it as what happened. But what do you think?

Sounds like something that easily could have happened.

I always preferred that theory over the Infinity Gauntlet being deemed as a fake. Also, I'm pretty sure you mean the Power Stone was left on Morag. The Tesseract and the Space Stone are one and the same.

The Tesseract and the Space Stone are one and the same. nice catch! I made the change. And I agree about the idea of it being a fake. I actually blend that with the theory, and that Hela called it a fake because he had only made a prototype or kept this version after destroying a real one. Either way, it’s how she knew what it was.
