Whoa… I think we just found the upper limits of Chalamet's acting ability. His approach screams community theater.

I’m only speaking for myself but I’d be much more interested in a Charlie Bucket sequel than a Willy Wonka prequel.

Give us the horror/slasher movie version of Charlie & the Chocolate Factory instead - at least that would make sense.

Supposedly it will not get its release date pushed back.

I've seen worse looking. Honestly I barely even like the original. Watching it as a kid I couldn't detach myself from the poverty. All those elderly people sharing a bed. It works perfectly thematically because it enriches the escapism of the factory, but as a child worried about money I found it sad.
Moving on. I liked it more growing up. Later in life it seemed much more like an adult movie. I'm barely sure it's a kids movie despite having a kid's POV as the main character. I have a soft spot for mature movies that feature children's eye-level POV, like Spirit of the Beehive or Night of the Hunter (neither of which I would accuse of being kid's movies).
Moving on again. My lack of soft spot for Wonka notwithstanding, the trailers for this one are in theaters now, and it doesn't look so bad. There's a part in the trailer where Willy Chalamet says to himself "we did it, Momma", and that kinda gets to me.
Odds I'll see it in theaters are about 1 and fifty, but them odds are way higher still than seeing the Johnny Depp ones in or out of theater. I'm sure they're fine, but just not for me. This new one... yeah, I've seen worse looking.

It's made over $500M worldwide now. Very impressive.
