mixing previous DCEU characters with gunn's overcrowded DCU is just going to confuse the fuck out of everyone It's honestly impressive how much of a clusterfuck this whole thing is. I don't have much faith that Gunn can turn this around.

Between this^ and the Superman: Legacy casting...there may be a slight chance that I'll end up actually liking James Gunn. mixing previous DCEU characters with gunn's overcrowded DCU is just going to confuse the fuck out of everyone Pretty sure people can figure it out. It's honestly impressive how much of a clusterfuck this whole thing is. Pretty sure people can figure it out. I disagree They seemed to follow having three Batmen in The Flash okay. In fact, there was much celebration of Keaton's Batman appearing. im not watching any of this trash And if the Superman: Legacy casting (as well as another Woman Woman movie starring Gal Gadot) is any indication of what's to come, I'll be both watching and enjoying it.

She in the role was one of the best casting decisions (imo) of the 2010's. Imagine how much she's slay it if she could really act! To this day I still find it hilarious when she screams when she sees the plane Trevor is on blow up in the first movie. It's just not fair. Someone in the editing room has to know that's hilarious.
I don't see her fitting to this new alleged DCU (or DCEU? AHHHHHH!!!!) continuity, but stranger things have happened. She's a crowd-pleaser as the character. She's the best part of each movie she's in, imo. I'd have thought her time in that universe as Wonder Woman has set sail. She doesn't seem like a fit for James Gunn's creative ideology. Wonder Woman 1984 is probably where they should leave it as her last hurrah.
I'm not disappointed to not see her in Wonder Woman 3 because she's had a good run, and while her acting leaves something to be desired, I'd say she was one of that franchises MVP's. Honestly I don't even see her gelling with James Gunn written dialogue, but she's done more than enough to be the new generation's definitive Wonder Woman. No small feat.

I concur with your assessment of Gadot's acting prowess. While she brilliantly conveys the stoic warrior aspect of Wonder Woman, her range aside from that seems a tad limited. She lacks the ability to showcase vulnerability in the same vein as Chris Evans does so effortlessly as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Her portrayal has an undertone of aloofness, which makes her seem oddly vain. It's interesting to contrast Gadot's portrayal with Linda Evans'. While I initially believed Evans lacked any acting ability, Gadot's performance makes Evans seem as nuanced as Meryl Streep. Many fans are enamored with the neck-snapping, sword-wielding depiction of Wonder Woman, which is understandable given the action-centric nature of the genre. However, I opine that the character's essence could be better captured by emphasizing her ambassadorial role, where she prioritizes peace but resorts to violence when indispensable. Regarding the initial Wonder Woman movie, my sentiments are lukewarm at best, and I'd rather not delve into my critique of "Wonder Woman 1984." But I resonate with your point about her not seamlessly fitting into the new DCU (or is it DCEU? The confusion is real!) direction. Despite the shortcomings, it's undeniable that she has etched a lasting impression as the character, emerging as a franchise MVP. While it's challenging to envisage her embodying James Gunn's creative vision, she has unequivocally become the quintessential Wonder Woman for this generation, which is a monumental accomplishment.

Forbes' reaction to the confusion:
Gal Gadot confused DC fans over the past couple weeks, giving interviews stating she was told directly by James Gunn and Peter Safran in a meeting that they would work with her to make Wonder Woman 3, a project thought dead.
“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran,” Gadot said. “They told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman— you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”
That sounded pretty definitive, but further reporting seems to suggest that Gadot is wrong and this is not happening, or at the very least, has not been promised to her. Both Variety and Collider’s sources have said that there is no Wonder Woman 3 in development, and that Gunn and Safran are not working on any other Wonder Woman project besides the already-announced Paradise Lost prequel series for Max, which does not feature Diana.
What happened here? Is Gadot just…making this up? It feels like what could have happened is that she met with them and they gave their usual “hey we’d love to work together again in the future if something presents itself” speech they gave actors like The Rock and Henry Cavill, and she took that to mean they were reviving Wonder Woman for a new film.
However, this is a bit confusing, because Gunn has previously said outright that they had not replaced Gadot as Wonder Woman, that she wasn’t “booted.” Gunn has previously said he was open to some actors reprising their DCEU roles, though obviously Cavil was a very specific example of that not happening. Momoa’s Aquaman, Miller’s Flash and Gadot’s Wonder Woman always seemed up in the air, but no actual projects were announced for any of them in the new DCU slate.
It does not make a whole lot of sense for the DCU to be a new refresh of the DC universe while keeping some DCEU actors and not others. But Gunn makes this complicated because of his past involvement directing DC projects. Would he replace Margot Robbie’s Harley? Would he stop making Peacemaker content? Both are from the DCEU, but both he has direct connections to. You can see how this is very messy.
What’s clear, however, is that Gal Gadot probably should not be going around stating that Wonder Woman 3 is happening, when all reporting says that it is not. Maybe she’s trying to make it happen, maybe she just misunderstood, but it’s very weird either way.

Why do I have a feeling that this DCU reboot is going to be a complete mess?

Why do I have a feeling that this DCU reboot is going to be a complete mess? I would say that the reporting has been a complete mess. And that is something James Gunn needs to clear up. To be concise, this is every confirmed theatrical movie and tv series that is meant as a part for what James Gunn calls "Chapter: One".
Bear in mind, just five years ago there were like 20 or 30 planned or just rumored movies and series floating around under the old regime. It was nuts. Granted, all these confirmed projects under JG could still be a bloody mess but just not as over-saturated.

Some concept art showing Adria Arjona as Wonder Woman for the Gunnverse. I frequently see her mentioned as a potential casting choice on the interwebs.
Btw, maybe we should get this thread retitled since I think it's safe to say this is not gonna be a continuation of the Gal Gadot version.
