Just finished season 1 of lower decks. I have been slacking on this show but it is enjoyable. It's my fave of the modern era series. I like Tendi the most, but then again I like them all.
I like when Mariner, Ransom, etc are imprisoned on an away mission and have to fight for their freedom against a giant troll monster. Towards the end of the fight he surrenders, thereby revealing that he actually can talk and that he doesn't even like fighting. He likes to read!

I love the Lower Decks crossover in SNW. It's the delightful little things that get me, like Mariner explaining that she once learned the material needed to repair the time portal may be built into the ship as is tradition, and Spock remarking this is impressive because normally she does not pay attention. I also feel for Nurse Chapel. At the moment she's my favourite character, and it must be crushing to learn there's virtually no mention of her and Spock as an item in the future. I liked Pela's spiel about having lived a long time and knowing who the real heroes are and who're the experts at presenting as heroes.
It was a nice episode. I liked it too.

At least it won't end on the cliffhanger that is season 4, but still, that sucks. Lower Decks has the largest amount of characters I'm invested in and care about.
Lower Decks, in my opinion, has the least hiccups of the modern shows and has been the most consistent in quality. It has even more untapped potential because it doesn't resign itself to taking place in a past whose future is already determined, and unlike Picard, Lower Decks doesn't dwell on legacy characters brought out of retirement for one last hurrah. Lower Decks is the freshest blood in the franchise, and I think its animated format makes it covertly so.
This is what gets me about modern Star Trek and this cancellation. This forward-thinking franchise has several shows that all take place in the past. They're too busy tip-toeing around "canon" to open up the universe the way Lower Decks is. There isn't a single Star Trek show currently on the go that I wouldn't trade in for Lower Decks. It was a good run, but colour me disappointed.

I saw this in my feed and plan to watch it later this evening. He should go into the Abrahms Effect, which the franchise hasn't been able to shake since 2009. I still favor the TNG production era, which had better lighting and less shaky camera work. Why is it always dark on the bridge in Discovery?

I am 4 episodes in on strange new worlds. Boy, that woman lieutenant acted like she’s the captain and even barking orders at Pike and everybody else. Kirk wouldn’t stand for that. I hope they don’t make Pike look this weak for the rest of the series. I was waiting for Pike to say pretty please with sugar on top after giving an order

The actor does very well but you can tell Pike is a peacetime captain. He's lenient.

Even Janeway wouldn’t take that crap. A captain has to establish himself as in command I agree. I vaguely recall the scene you're talking about. I don't remember exactly the circumstance or even who it was anymore, but I remember the wince. There's a few moments where he lets others take the reins and I don't think it looks good.

I went to go watch Star Trek Shorts and I noticed that it is no longer available and you have to pay for Paramount Essentials or something like that? what kind of crap is this? I guess I better hurry up and finish lower decks before they screw me on that too.

Also, I'm not sure how the tiers work on Paramount+ but when I'm watching TNG on there it has more commercials than TV ever did.

That should not be. This isn't Tubi or freevee. We're paying for this. I have only been using it for Strange new worlds lately.

I don't mind the ads so long as I know when to expect them.
