I'm not surprised. Nolan prefers putting films in theaters.
I wonder if this will make him search for another studio?

He is a bit of a snob. However he does have a point. I dont see this as a smart move from WB at all.

He is a bit of a snob. However he does have a point. I dont see this as a smart move from WB at all. I honestly can't tell if WB's decision is this year's greatest coup or a monumental blunder. What is certain is that it was not thoroughly thought out or communicated to anyone else in their orbit. Impulsiveness and bold gestures are more of Disney's territory. The really good news here is that this move is bound to motivate Disney to offer more value for their services and produce more content. Unlike many other studios, Disney has a track record for announcing projects and actually completing them.

He is one of the last "must be in theater and must be on film" dinosaurs.
They are about to become extinct.

He is one of the last "must be in theater and must be on film" dinosaurs. They are about to become extinct. And it's a damn good thing they still exist. Once studios move everything to the cloud, they'll be able to censor, ban, and change our favorite content with ease. Don't think Star Wars is safe from the clutches from political correctness gone far, because it isn't. If a film like "Gone With the Wind" that's considered part of the cinematic establishment had to have the American people rebel against it being taken down from streaming, how far off is the day someone decides Slave Leia, or Jar Jar Binks, or that Asian guy who Kamikazed himself in "Return", or the green guys with Japanese accents are offensive and we have to fight to keep Star Wars in circulation? We need theaters and we need physical media. This is a step towards losing our buyer's rights.

Personally, I couldn't care less if theaters die out.
I only went to one movie in 2019, and zero in 2020.

If physical media vanishes, that episode will never be seen again.

If we lose this fight, we lose a big part of our say as customers.

It'll be interesting if it succeeds, and how do they measure the success? Or how do they spin it?

Personally, I couldn't care less if theaters die out. I only went to one movie in 2019, and zero in 2020. I don't think apathy is the best policy here. The instant the companies have full control of our media through Streaming, it won't take much for anything to be censored, banned, or otherwise changed. And sooner or later, it WILL hit something you hold dear. It's better to care now than when it's too late. I don't know why the implications don't worry you more.

I could add a dozen other reasons to the list as well. The censoring aspect is but one reason I oppose the dominance of non-purchasable media. Raptor, you should be boycotting Disney Plus like me! Vote with your wallet!
