I gotta be honest: I would gladly trade this one for just about any other property. Might be the first MCU movie in a really long while I don’t see in theaters.

Is it just me or is there explicit subliminal advertising in that poster?

Marvel must be desperate to use subliminal space vaginas to get people to the theater. I mean, I admit it will definitely work on me. But still…

I still say this feels like the wrong movie to have made after the first one. I do hope they use this film to tie up all the bangle dangles and other seemingly-related mysteries. I honestly don't know if I have six or seven months in me of listening to the insufferable whining of Anti-Disney+ trolls talking about how they don't know any of these characters (because they choose not to watch the shows). Intergalactic is a great song but- a bit on the nose… maybe…

As you know I had little hope for this movie. However this trailer has given me the idea it may not be a total lost cause after all.
And I assume people who choose not to watch the shows on Disney+ will not wine about it. After all they knew what the consequence of that choice could be.

Looks pretty good to be honest. I didn't watch Ms Marvel though.

'Choice' is an interesting word when basically they said "Pay the cost of Disney+ or you don't get these shows!'. A real F.U. to those who followed all the movies but can't afford streaming shows. And probably an 'unpopular opinion', but to me this looks like another Captain America: Civil War - ie. a sequel to a superhero's movie where the title character is lost in the shuffle of all the other characters who are taking up screentime. They could've at least waited until a third film (like with Cap) to do that, so we could've at least had a sequel that was focused on Carol. I mean, we didn't even really get to know her that well in the first film because she had amnesia or whatever for the majority of it. How about exploring her character with her memories intact for a film before focusing on others? And now I'm sure someone will proceed to lecture me on how 'wrong' I am.

You'll get no lectures from me. It's really up to the individual what they choose to watch or not watch, and I certainly understand the reality of a budget and time constraints. Now, imagine putting your comments on an endless loop for the next six months, and you'll start to get a feel for what I'm dreading. Those of us who are in the loop will have to listen to this same argument repeatedly when, in truth, those who are complaining could honestly decide to skip the movie if they feel like they can't invest in it on any level because they missed a Disney+ show. I will admit that this show does have an unusually high amount of Disney+ linkage.

This is a good trailer. I hope the movie lives up to it. The marketing is crucial but in the end, the quality of the movie itself will make or break it.
It might be a little early for the first trailer. Hopefully GOTG3 and Secret Invasion will build up momentum for this movie.

I don't think it's going to work for fans.

Thats about the start of the window in which usually the first teaser drops for Marvel Studios movies. 5-7 months in advance.

I have seen the shows so I won’t be “offending” anyone with any complaints about that. However I do think it’s a disastrous strategy to make a tentpole movie dependent on two tv shows, one of which had less than a million views. It could very possibly lead to lots of casual movie goers skipping this one. Pretty valid criticism there shared by a lot of fans, so perhaps some of you boys should stay off the net for the next nine months.

Those storied strongholds of fandom where only the elite gathers to whine. LOL! No, but seriously, disastrous strategy or not, it's what they've chosen to do. That won't change for the foreseeable future. It would make sense to evaluate this film's potential on the merits of what it is. Repeated discussion of an immutable fact only blunts the more significant/relevant conversation: this film doesn't look particularly interesting (based on the marketing/premise) or relevant to the MCU. I don't mind being locked into seeing another MCU chapter because I don't have any financial, ethical, moral or time constraints in that regard. I do mind this oddly "Disney" themed freaky Friday premise, and The A-Forceness of it all, if you will.

But I can handle them so I don’t need to isolate myself on tiny little echo chambers to avoid being offended.

Is the rumor that Tyrone Magnus claimed in his reaction true? That Miss Larson said this movie should have been called Captain Marvel 2 and that there was trouble on set because of this?

Cool, and I don't wanna hear anymore about these diverse opinions or independent thoughts or whatever it is you Mon Calamari are selling. Conform or be marginalized. Forever. Hee hee hee...

It's probably been rebadged as the Marvels because they thought she couldn't carry a second one alone. I'm sure they were banking on a warmer welcome for Vellani in Ms. Marvel to help bolster this - which did not happen. This leaves Paris as the diversity hire and my beloved De Costa as fodder for the block buster machine.

Probably not. I sympathize with Brie. It must be creepy having half the internet against you. I actually really like her and think with the right script her Cap Marvel could shine.

Brie Larson was not the problem with Captain Marvel.

Brie Larson was not the problem with Captain Marvel. Definitely not. I think she was a great choice. I hope this movie gives her a chance to shine. But I fear the time jump and potentially show stealing side kick (Kamala) is really gonna hurt her characterization.
